good luck to you both ,

there is already lots of info regarding the PMV applications etc on here ,if i where either of you i would  do a search and read in the visa section here , then  fire off any other questions that may arise after that

happy to help if we can  ;)

given the current enviroment in ukraine , it would not surprise me in the near future to see the australian gov extend any current visas already granted to ukraine nationals for australia  if the situation escalates to be harmfull to any ukraine nationals who may have to return there

Hi SouthernX,

You are right in saying there is plenty of advice on this forum.. I read through it all the time. :D
The concern I have is that my girl is from Moscow and we are really worried that our PMV will not be as easy to obtain with the crisis that is happening atm.
It doesn't seem to be getting any better over there atm either

Due the situation in Ukraine, we are getting our medicals done asap 5 May without waiting to be asked. Reason being things may get hotter there the closer to the May 25 election. Current process time I was told by the Embassy is 6-7 months and we are ready to travel at the drop of a hat.

The PMV application I think I have mostly under control & used an agent that has a review service that cost $690.

I asked immigration if things get wild and the Embassy in Russia is closed what will happen, they reply was not known but likely to be sent to another offshore Embassy (most are now well over 12 month process time).

I did find the online application hard to navigate a word of warning it times out so save often (I got to half way through Q3 explain household finances written answers and it warned me to save or go back! I did it froze - start all over again. Also the places to upload documents is a mine field to learn. (never would have thought my previous sponsor declaration stat dec, would be located in evidence of relationship evidence of - sponsor section.

I live in Darwin Baz.

Enjoy early May!

Bazz,

Sorry bit of advice.

Get a joint bank account while she is here with a visa/master DEBIT card - Good proof for latter and good exchange rates is needed on purchases.

Join a few rewards, parks, social clubs if they will have in joint names.

Get photos both of you, with family.

Get your friends to meet her too take a photo of them together - then tell you friend/s to start filling form 888 (getting people to write stat decs takes about the longest time)

Every day she is here make a point of collecting evidence to support your relationship, shit write a diary.

Maybe get a few quotes on engagement rings and wedding things, not to judge your partner but as others have said best be carful wait for her to return and have time to take it all in before getting engaged with a ring. I proposed over Skype and still not even looked for a ring yet. She has no problem with that.

That's about all - Have fun.

Ampk ,, re the medicals .. I would advise you too wait . As you will need a "HAP "number to lodge with your medical for immi to take it seriously .  We checked and the medicals are doable in a lot of places , but without the HAP number ,there is a high chance of wasting your own time  . We are at the 6 month mark with our #300 . Still no sign or word on when the medical will be required . If she had done the medicals when they were here it would already be 4 months old .. So this is why I advise waiting ..Best of luck to you both with it all . :)

ampk ,

where in ukraine is your lady from ??
id tend to agree with supraman re the medicals , usually they can be done pretty quickly once you get the application in to IMMI

australian embassy in moscow will likely not close unless extreme action results between ukraine/ russia

given its our major logistical embassy in the region id not worry too much about it at present

i have found over time personally , downloading the info /documents from the IMMI  website, then fill them in & send /mail is the better way to go ,
doing the application online is not usually any quicker ime  & does not speed up your application or the visa grant in any way ime,    building up a full file application  with index , and checklist in the front , then adding in all additional info as requested & extra is easier to keep track of imho

you will also probably find you need to actually book a wedding date with a local celebrant or church here to add into your PMV 300 application , and i would advise to get engaged if your serious ,& want a succesfull visa grant from IMMI  as this is the express intent of this visa for immigration purposes to australia

good luck to you both

Hi Guys,

The Lady is from Cherkasy (all fine there except inflation). The guy I spoke to at the Embassy in Russia was in favour of online. We did both paper and online for visitor visa.

We are engaged just no rings (she is not a jewellery type girl) we have the wedding booked and NOIM letter.

Medicals, you get that number in a section of the online application "book medicals" then you print the referral letter from there (it is the form pre filled including that number) We took a stab and hope processed within 8 months knowing both medicals and police doc may need to be redone at extra cost. Once approved flights out of Ukraine asap.

Our agent is the approved type, from Sydney (seems good not just after cash) and all docs translated by approved mob as well (they like cash).

Feel free to keep throwing things out there, we are all listening and looking for more info or traps.

Cheers.
