Question on dress size
« on: June 03, 2009, 10:42:30 AM »
Hello ladies,

I have a question, if a dress size is 42-44 s, sm what size would that be in USA size?  I was asked to get one, so the lady could see
my taste, and bring it of course.  But, I need to know the size and she said I probably have toughts on the dress.  She wanted a summer dress, so I have no clue.  But, the size would be a big help.

Thanks.
Feel free to pm me, if have any advice, questions, or anything else.

It's my size so I can answer: size 2 in Banana Republic, size 2 or 4 in dept stores, size 0 in some weird stores.  I'd go for size 2.  You also might want to take into account your lady's cup size for certain types of dresses. :)
If you need more consulting, PM me.

Phantom - as long as you buy dresses made with elastic fabric, sleeveless, and you can guess cup size - it's hard to miss the size. Buying skirt (not the pencil-skirt, some other more loose style) is the safest option though. If skirt is a bit too large - can be worn row-rise (on hips), if it's a bit too small - can be pulled up to waist.

But not to worry in any case - every dress can be easily re-sold in Russia to female friends or colleagues.

Hi Mies,

Thanks on that.  I guessed at the cup size, not really good at that.  As she took her shirt off, after asking if I wanted to see her new bikini and went from there.  Got a dress, that is a bit elastic and short, it can be tied across the shoulders or around the back.  I hope she likes it.

I recall one old joke.  :)

A man decided to make his woman a present - lingerie.
Shop assistant: What size of bra she wears?
Man: 7
Shop assistant: Such bra sizes don't exist.
Man: It's impossible! I measured it with my hat.

I recall another one :

- So, what does it look like?   Like an orange?
- No.
- Like a melon?
- No.
- Then like what?
- Like spaniel's ears!

It must be international O5ps, we have it here too, the only difference being that the punch line refers to cocker's ears.

Yes, lucky.  :D she asked if I wanted to see her new bikini, I said yes, I was expecting her to hold it up, not take her shirt off wearing it.  I think it was brown.  Maybe it was black or blue.

I used to do it the other way around - every time some friend was insisting on seeing my new bikini or lingerie - I would take a snapshot of the bikini on the hanger, or just send the link to the online store. All guys shown very little variation in their reaction to my response.

With 3 daughters and a wife, one of the daughters going to Moscow State University, and with our frequent travel going back and forth I've found some outside help:

http://www.onlineconversion.com/clothing_womens.htm

and

http://www.fashion-411.com/Size_Conversions.htm

Just purchased shoes for the University daughter last month.

Liked the jokes.  Got the dress, right size.  Hopefully the right cup size is right on, gonna ship it usps priority.  Since it's a summer dress and we're meeting in september/october.  Thanks for the input here.
Feel free to pm me, if have any advice, questions, or anything else.
