GQ.  Stocks rise when inflation is a concern.  Bonds are fixed in their face value and lose big time during inflation.

Eric, I am not a Republican.  I've told you that before.  I'm a Independent who recently joined the American Independent Party which is the California affiliate of the Constitution party.  It is the fastest growing party in the United States.

Now, your venom toward the Republican party may give you and the Democrats a temporary sense of satisfaction but I suspect you and your ilk will never be happy with an America united and racial free.  I too, had a conversation recently with a lady named Janice who works in my building.  I see her often in the hall and she is one of the sweetest people I've ever met.  As I walked to my car I could only think about the quality of the person and not once did it enter my mind as to her race.  For Democrats, it seems that race is first and foremost on their minds.  They anesthetize their prejudices and inability to accept people with darker skin as equal.  Obama was lift up as their candidate not because of his accomplishments or sparse qualifications but because of his race.  You are all race obsessed

Look at how your Senator Boxer talks to a man of African descent as if he were illiterate:

You may well be right, but thus far recent history doesn't really support your statement above. When both the Stocks and Bonds were at their highest (14,000+ / 2900 +) not too long ago, the highest inflation rate during those time was 4.3, and unemployment were at an all time low. Inflation rate today is at baseline or in the negative and unemployment at double digits (depending on who you believe).

Not arguing. We all know that with all these ridiculous massive spending, Feds forcing interest rates down and federal revenues being dire and sketchy at best; something has to give ~ and soon.

Actually Eric, what you see as wrong is the ability of anyone who disagrees to have a voice, particularly when those voices point out the folly of your philosophy.

Perhaps that is because you disagree with so many of the founding principles of the constitution.  All you can say about the constitution is that the founders were slave holders. Well, guess what?  Slavery takes many different forms.  Any government that seeks to deny our liberties is by definition seeking to shackle and enslave us.

My hope for you is that you will one day realize that the chains you think you're helping to forge for others, will be placed around your own ankles by your own party.

Oh GQ, I never said inflation was the only factor influencing stock market.  If it were that simple we could all be wall street gurus.  I was simply answering your query about a rising market in a period of massive deficits, growing unemployment and looming revolution.

Ronnie, you are so full of it I just dont want to be bothered with you or anything you claim to represent.  What i can tell you is this, I have put my life on the line to protect freedom and human rights on more than one occasion.  I am sure you have never done ANYTHING that you weren't told to do.  Your words are the same empty lies and falsehoods that have been used before.  Thankfully the conditions in this country are nowhere near they were the last time the garbage you are repeating rose up.

Gq,

You mentioned the unemployment and the figures are near 10% but close to 12% in California so it matters where you live to get an accurate dose. The numbers will not fall much until companies begin to hire again and that must be after they show a profit from streamlined plans and actions they are taking now.

Obama promised or rather verbally stated that unemplyment would not go above 8.5 because he was gonna make jobs happen. Of course anyone knows governement cannot control unemplyment as it's a privare sector situation right? He has a bit to learn on economics...lol.

You mentione the Dow Jones at 9400 or so but you might want to remember that is only a guage of 50 companies or so. Nas. as well as the other systems are more telling. Look at inflation and see what takes place in three months from now. If it stays as it is the whole situation is good and if not no problem anyway.

You should concentrate on three things to value the US dollar as well as any countries monetary rating. One is the GDP the second in unemplyment statistics and the third is interest rates. Interest rates are down and GDP is down and also unemplymet is rated high. The dollar will come up when two of those three markers come up.

Good thing is that Europe as well as the western powers have figured out how to solve the mechanical problem with dollars. The reason the dollar was so strong for thaperiod is because people wanted payment during the crisis and the amount of dollars was low. This caused the dollar to go up for that reason only.

The markets are on the way up and if your quick then your gonna make a lot of money. If you believe this won't last then you are probably mistaken. Now is the time to invest and buy low. Copper is the best bet in my book followed by silver and then gold. It's gonna be a new world and gold is leading the popularity as China stocks up Europe sells in a strange way. Gold mines are not able to produce enough and silver is beating gold in profits this year. Copper will soon be 25 cents per ounce and that takes 28 american pennies to get an ounce if they are dated 1981 or older. Look around and move on these possibilities because 10 years from now it will be too late and that feeling of why will come up in your mind....

Makkin-

Yes. I believe the actual number of the unemployed is much, much higher than 10% which makes O's speech the other day seem silly because it was instigated by July's report that people applying for jobless benefits dropped by a staggering one tenth of one percent. For him to jump on that and say 'things are looking up folks' smacks of desperation and is about as well-thought out as when he went to Caterpillar's plant and promised the people that if his Stim bill passes the 20,000 recently laid-off employess will soon be hired right back. Since then, Caterpillar added another 34,000 to that tally.

But anyway, we have this current administration hacking away at our future and our children's future. I really do wish there was a way that we can determine who voted for whom every election. This way those responsible for current administrations can always be held accountable. They ought to tax them to death first until they reach complete insolvency before even contemplating on taxing those who had no part in putting these people into office. We are out of money and are still agrressively spending negative billions every day (why does Pakistan need 1.5 billion/yr every year for the next 5 years? What exactly are we 'outsourcing' to these guys?). Cash for Clunkers, LOL. To ensure UAW and our public transportation system we knew as GM and Chrysler gets rid of last and current year' model this administration decided to get into the used car business, too. At the same time, private used car business and charities living off donated clunkers is being shown the door. But hey, Ron Gettlefinger is happy.

So the interesting point that I was making before was the fact there are monies being invested into companies making for  rosy a NYSE lately. But if there are monies being invested (50% growth), what exactly are they investing it on if unemployment was rising at the very same time? Retail is down, manufacturing is down, etc...our internal economic machine is smacked, whacked and jacked. Christmas specials in July? Bankruptcy filing went up by 60,000 last June/July from the monthly filing of 200,000+. I can also tell you exactly how the housing market is today and it is NOT remotely as what the media want you to see. These are just but few reasons why I believe the market is going to take another hit.

All economic indicators are pointing downwards. I do not see any recovery in the immediate future. Once Bernanke is forced to raise interest rates (we can't  afford this ridiculously low interest rate but he is forced to do so because of high inventories of foreclosed homes ( which the banks are not selling and are holding unto to create demand and retain a still relatively inflated prices) ~ though he promised not raising it this year. He won't be able to continue to do this longer than at the end of 2009.). It's not a question of 'if' but 'when' will this dam break wide open. I'm seeing hyperinflation in the high teens by 2012 and beyond. CBO is projecting almost 10 trillion dollars in deficit on up to the next decade.

I feel like a person living in a household on the brink of financial collapse but the head of household is still hell bent on charging up all our credit cards we know we can't pay back to somehow get us out of a mess and give other people impression of our wealth. This is what USA is today. This is exactly largely why the EU refused to jump into the fray with Obama in the last summit.

But I'm happy this administration can engage on a $500,000 Manhattan skyline fly-by, a $500,000 USD afternoon White House beer fest and a weekly million dollar Wednesday night white house parties; courtesy of the generous US taxpayers.

At least someone is getting something out of all these madness.

So, you can take your pick. Vlad vacations and preens for the camera to play on the people's need for someone "strong" to lead them OR Obama orchestrates his soundbites and promises things are changing while desperately hoping he can achieve a self-fulfilling prophecy with his claims that things are improving.

All cluttered up with all these "other" issues like human rights, murdering journalists, denying the failing tax revenues, increasing government spending, declining popularity and growing protests.

Which is better for YOU is the real question for everyone, be they American, Ukrainian, Russian or Samoan.

Pick and choose carefully among the advice offered and consider the source carefully. PM, Skype or email if you care to chat or discuss

It's no surprise this thread has denigrated to the place it has. It was started with pics of Putin that some teenage russkya or flaming homosexual might hang on the wall in their bedrooms. I repeat WTF? I realize we cover a wide array of topic here but this is a forum for the discussion of all things RW. So WTF?

GQ,

I undertand what your thinking and the resolution to most problems will be solved sooner than you may believe. The real trick is to raise interest rates at a time sooner than later. The dollar will grow and the Obama gang will "HAVE" to do this. They will have to raise interest rates because they are not getting the type of money they need from personal savings in a tax form. All in all they want a tax base like Clinton had and they have mentioned many times they will seek to raise interest rates.

Actually GQ, these statistics are gathered at exit polls.  I think everyone knows that blacks voted overwhelmingls (95%) for Obama as did 66% of Hispanics.  But those are not the more interesting statistics.

What is interesting was that nearly 70% of unmarried women went for Obama vs a roughly even split of married women.  What makes single women so much different is their views from married women?  Maybe that could be a topic by itself.

Another interesting statistic was the Jewish vote - 78% (second only to the black vote) went to Obama.  This is one point higher than the 77% that went to Gore-Lieberman.  What is astounding of course, is that Lieberman is Jewish and Obama is the son of a Muslim and has taken a pro-Palestinian tone.

Males of all ages, races and creeds went for McCain by a slim margin.

Young (aged 18-30) voters of all descriptions went heavily for Obama - 66%.  Proving the recent scientific finding that only 1/3 of people under the age of 30 have fully developed brains.  :)

The majority in the 65+ age group voted for McCain.

Obama's Chicago gang rewards their supporters and punishes those who didn't support them.  He put an unqualified Hispanic woman (certifiable racist) on the Supreme Court. He names two Jewish men as his closest advisors. Crammed through a "stimulus" bill that rewarded NGO's like ACORN with grants.  He gave union bosses control of the companies they work for (GM, et. al)  And now wants to give free healthcare and free abortions to young people, paid for by taxing and denying benefits to parents and grandparents.

But the joke will be on the biggest supporters as he will refuse to enforce immigration laws that would have protected jobs for black and Hispanics.  He looks the other way as Hamas prepares for an attack on Israel and Iran obtains their nuclear weapons to use against Israel.  And, as for the youth, they are enabling him to fashion a harsh autocracy - forging their own chains, digging their own early graves.

Ronnie,

It will be interesting to watch the 2010 elections and see how many sound bites the Republicans use against this administration. I suppose hundreds would be my guess but maybe 20 or so is all that will be needed...lol

Today the President tells the American people about unemployment and how during his six months it has dropped in reverse to only 50% more(only lost 50% more jobs) than when he began..lol. What is this supposed to mean for him. He stated this in a way that made it seem positive for his hard work..lol. I believe he's dumbing down his statements for those less apt toward math skills in an effort to help them think he's done something great.

He tells us this is the end of the recession is a careful way..lol. It may indeed be the end of the recession but jobs will take time and jobs will be made by the private citizens and not the administration right? Will he take credit for this when it happens and how will "he" explain how he did it? The truth be told it's little to do with him or his policies as we all know. As the most jobs created in this administration have been government jobs it harkens to me we will need more taxes to get more people working for our government and as we already know socialism is the dream of theis "Gang".

There are positives to this administration and those being that it will be impossible raise the unemployment rate to a possible 6.8 percent or better without dropping taxes and also without raisning interest rates. I would not bet on these type things to happen soon but my best bet is that whenver the economy looks better the interest rates will go in order to raise governemnt revenue to pay for more quick fix ideas. The whole ball of wax for this "Gang" is to raise the interest rate to 6-7% and then they can make everything better for the rich again and they will look the other way at the same time as the poor will never have a clue.
