New member interested in K2 discussions
« on: September 08, 2009, 10:47:21 AM »
My wife found this site while browsing for articles or posts relative to the K2 age out issue.  My stepson was denied his AOS on Aug, 14 2009, and we are looking for ways to fix this.  I would like to hear from anyone with similar experiences.

Hello Shantibeamer and welcome to RWD.

Can you give the forum member's a little more specific information about your Stepson?

Is he residing in the FSU?

His age?

Has he ever been married?

Etc. etc.

Is your wife a citizen of the GoodOl' USA yet?

If not, how much longer to citizenship?

GOB

BTW....Any of you Newbies reading this thread NEVER make a promise to a RW that you can't keep.

An ex-neighbor of mine promised his Ukrainian wife, (back in the Ukraine years ago) that he could bring her adult son over, NO PROBLEM.

Well, they are divorced now (after 4 years of arguing and fighting) and one of the reasons is her unwillingness to forgive an "undeliverable" (empty) promise that he made to her.

Good to hear from you GOB.
First, what is an FSU?  Too many TLA's for me to keep up with.
My son was 19 when we filed the I129F, 20 when we filed the I-485, and 21 at the interview.  Wife received GC in June.  He was denied due to age out Aug 14th.
Never been married, arrested, deported, or even a parking ticket.
So far, my lawyer has written the Milwaukee USCIS, requesting an NTA if the MTR has no chance at success.
I have read many of the posts here, and you guys have a real pool of expertise.  My wife is Chinese, but our problems are the same.  Believe me, CW are just as much fun to deal with!

Looks like your wife will have to wait for the citizenship and only then get her son here as a 'relative'. Kids 21 y.o. are on their own unfortunately.

AnastassiaAsh,
I should have been more clear.  My step-son came on a K2 derivative of his mother's K2.  We were married inside of the 90 days, and filed for AOS well before his 21st birthday.  Unfortunately, he turned 21 before adjudication, so we are in for a battle with the USCIS.  I have read some interesting related posts on this site.

Didn't Ronnie just win a similar age-out battle not too long ago and post a thread about it? Sorry if I am mistaken, but I think it was indeed a similar situation... point being that a search in the forum of specific key-words (though I have little  idea what they would be, you know the legalese of this situation) targeting "Ronnie" as the poster should turn up the thread...

When stymied by an obscure acronym used here, have a look at the RWD Glossary (Main Menu at top left) ;).

Hope these help you out, shantibeamer. Welcome to RWD!

Thanks to all.  I have read those two threads, and wanted to write clfdvr, but the system won't let me send mail.  Is there a waiting period?
