Like Greg I do consciously tip more than 15% sometimes. However, I don't consider this "over-tipping" since it is in recognition of services rendered.

As his example states, if I sit on a table for a while, limiting their income while sipping my single cup of $2 coffee, I often drop 100% or more to the waiter/waitress. This is especially true when they have remained attentive, keeping me supplied with refills, checking if I am okay or want something else.

Of course, those events rarely occur in Ukraine except around well-trained staffs used to dealing with higher-level service. The only place I can remember having a bottomless coffee cup in Eastern Europe was at the Radison in Kyiv. Even the Hyatt charged per cup.
Pick and choose carefully among the advice offered and consider the source carefully. PM, Skype or email if you care to chat or discuss

I see a lot of percentages here.  Does 10-15% still apply if eating alone?  When I dine out, my bill is rarely over $15, usually around $10.  10-15% doesn't allow much for tipping.  I have a set standard for tipping:  $2-3 for average; $5-10 for excellent; up to $20 for an attractive waitress that is attentive.  I think it is obvious that attractive female servers make the most in tips.

$20 is why she's so attentive to you. Don't do that anymore. Don't feel sorry for beatiful female waitresses because they work for near minumum wage. I know a beautiful female waitress that worked in a bar/restaurant. She thought the big tippers were not smart but she didn't want to lose her customers so she gave them good service and attention. Whether or not she was single or had a boyfriend, she'd always tell her customers she's not available at the moment but they are the first on the list when she is available. It gave the men hope and reason to keep coming back to her tables. She made $200 to up to $500 a day in tips alone. More of course on the weekend when men get drunk and loose with their wallets. Tip normally with those pretty waitresses. Don't be like the "other" guys. She'll have more respect for you.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

If you really want a surprise give the ugly waitress that is frowning a big tip.
Either she will throw it back at you or change at once in to sunshine.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)
