Thanks,

First question, I've been looking on the internet at the Cindy Agency.  Are they honest?  Reputable?

Spy Welcome to the board, can't give you any advice on Ukraine! I've only been to Russia, but I have been happily married for over five years!  8)  Just take some time to read, ask questions and use your judgement on what advice you feel is helpful.

Welcome spyvsspy!

The reputation of any agency is going to depend on to whom you ask and their experience with it. I would encourage you however to use an agency as less and possible and also do know, that you can meet many Ukrainian women without an agency at all. Agencies can be helpful but some/many are looking to soak you and have little at stake for you to actually find a mate. It's the hunt they sell you.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Good Luck

Welcome Spy!

Why limit your search to Ukraine? There are lots of fine women in Russia! That's where I met my wife.

Good luck!

Ive heard that getting and registering a visa in Russia can cause problems and add expense to the journey.  Am I correct when I say Ukraine doesnt require a visa?  Plus Im not ashamed to admit Im a little nervous about all the stories I read about the mafia in Russia.

Anybody had any experience with a company called First Dream?  I was looking at their web page and thought their concept was interesting.

Your profile says you're from USA so NO, you do not need a visa for Ukraine but don't forget to take your passport!

Im not ashamed to admit Im a little nervous about all the stories I read about the mafia in Russia.

You'll have more to worry about petty crime such as pickpockets and others who may want to put their hands on your wallet but bring a postage paid, self addressed body bag with you just in case you do run into mafia so the FSU authorities can mail you back home.

Anybody had any experience with a company called First Dream?

Turboguy has.

You're a civilian, if you aren't involved in criminal stuff the "mafia" won't bother you.  And you act as if there is no organized crime in  Ukraine.  Like the man said, you might actually have problems with gopniks, drunk sports fans, gypsies, or pickpockets, but you can easily have safeguards against these threats.

Oh and guess what, gopniks, drunk sports fans, gypsies, and pick pockets are in Ukraine too (as well as most countries in the world)(or their equivalents)

Hi Spy,

BillyB is right as usual.   I went on one of Jack's First Dream tours a few years ago and took my son along.   I had done 3 big agency tours before that and would never recommend them to anyone but Jack's tours are good.   He does do things differently from the big agencys and I would say they are particularly good for someone a little new at this who has not traveled overseas or at least to the FSU before.   Jack does a great job of educating the guys about what works and what doesn't.   The education is worth it just by itself but there are the possibilties of meeting some really great women.

Jack limits his group size and has a very well worked out program.  I would suggest if you do it to listen to Jack and do what he says to do.

There is a trip report on RWD about my tour with him.   It was quite a while ago so you will have to dig through the TR section but it is there.

Spy,

Many men are now using dating sites rather than agencies to contact women.  With dating sites, one can assume that you are corresponding directly with the woman rather than being filtered through an interpreter.

Based on your comments about visa and mafia, my immediate impression is that you should work with a full-service agency.  They are geared to help rookies such as yourself and manage all steps from meeting you at the airport, providing an apartment, scheduling meetings with UW, arranging for an interpreter, suggesting restaurants and things to do, and whatever else you need.

Vaughn earlier in this thread gave you a link to an explanation of how these agencies work.

there have been a few threads (all archived) about Cindy Agency...

Good memory Vaughn.  I reviewed that thread and saw some prominent names from the past:  JB and Rvrwind in particular.  The discussion about Cindy should apply to any "reputable" full-service agency.
