Hello Again,

It's been a while since I posted. It feels good to cruise the posts here again. My second trip to the Odessa region is in the works and due to, ahem 'circumstances' (spent the summer recovering from an injury) I'm heading back exactly one year after my first trip.

Last year my goals and expectations swung wildly from the time I first decided to go until after I departed Ukraine. I didn't find myself in a committed relationship but consider my first visit a huge success. I had the experience of a lifetime and my world has been forever shaped and bent around the possibilities of international romance.

So now I'm in the process of setting my goals and expectations for this 2nd trip. I'm writing a few ladies and I think the most I can hope for from this trip is to single one out to zero in on in the months to come. I'm looking forward your thoughts, opinions and most of all support. Lord knows I need it   :o

Correspondence details to follow...

Here we go again!

Like last time, I plan on drafting up a detailed report with lots of pics and video (this time).

-Law

P.S. PM me if you want me to deliver anything or pick you up something.  ;)

Law,

Didn't you do the tour thing last time? Did you stay in touch with any of those ladies or have you started anew? Are you doing a tour this time?

yup, I did do a tour last time but I'm going on my own this time. I'll be leveraging the service of an agency while I'm there so I'll have more date time.

I had the experience of trying to arrange my own dates at the end of my last trip and it's very different from running around on a guided tour.

I'm in touch with a couple of ladies, but I'm pretty much starting over.

Sah-weettt. I had the feeling you really enjoyed it last time but, I somehow expect you'll enjoy it more this time around. Running on your own schedule is a definite plus.

Will do! I'm hoping to put my theories to the test before I'm actually there and I could use all the help I can get. Like I said before, my expectations have changed drastically since my last trip!

Time frame?

I'm scheming to be on the ground for two full weeks, but my work is asking that I don't spend too much time out of the office. With flight times being between 30-40 hours an actual 2 week stay in Ukraine is going to be a little tricky! My travel dates will be the first couple of weeks in December. I'm writing a handful of gals and planning dates with ladies in Odessa, Nikolaev and Kherson.

I put all my eggs in one basket on my last trip. And I visited my 'main girl' after I had done a lot of dating which was really incongruent with the expectations we created from our correspondence. I don't think the outcome would have been different (it didn't work out) but looking back, it was a really dumb thing to do. However at the time I was so paranoid about being in a foreign country for the first time I wanted to travel locally from the safety of a guided (romance) tour.

This time I'm keeping more of an open mind, my expectations better checked, and putting fewer eggs in more baskets. I want to attend the AFA socials, but I'm hesitant about adding too many women to my list of people to visit on such a short trip. If I travel ahead of the romance tour circus by a day or two I can meet the ladies I've already been writing to and spend as much time with them as I need. Then I can meet with ladies I met during the social afterwards. (Still figuring this out)

One thing that I decided NOT to do on my first trip that I believe I MUST do from this point on is have an interview-style conversation to talk about core values and relationship expectations. I didn't want to do this last time but this kind of convo will be critical to have as early on as possible so I know who to spend my time with.

more to come...

Hello Law,

Interesting reading your posts. I can offer you some pretty solid advice concerning your planned trip to Odessa having lived in Kiev for over 3 years and having spent much time in Odessa.

Doing your "own thing" as well is an excellent decision. Odessa over the years has become overly mercenary in it's approach to matching Western men with local women. Unfortunately, the current situation has meant that "social season" has become an opportunity for local girls to have a "night out" with no real serious intentions. I know there are some reputable agencies like AFA but now, more than before, the standards have dropped. Of course there are always diamonds in the rough, girls with hopes of finding their Prince.

Nikolaev is a quiet city but has a much better vibe to it than Odessa. You will probably meet a finer type of girl here than in Odessa. Don't get me wrong................Odessan girls are beautiful and extremly smart but dangerous))))

Kherson again is a nice place to be but more industrial and commercial than Nikolaev. However, the people there to me have always been genuine and good mannered with more of the "old style values" than in Odessa.

I would recommend you balance your plans between planned meetings and "free time" where the girl sitting at the table next to you having a coffee might well turn out to be your perfect partner. Try to go with the flow yet remain in control.

I also agree that you should not allow yourself to be hijacked by 1 person unless you feel a strong connection.

Ukraine is a beautiful and exciting place but beware.

If it feels wrong................it is wrong is my motto and it works!!!
