Hello there,

I would like to ask what made you decide to live in Kiev and what are you doing for a living?
I can understand that the country went through some big changes in the last 3 years because of the financial crises and now the swine flu to top it off.
I'm interested to know because my girlfriend lives in Kiev and I've visited her 5 times so far and so was curious what made you decide to live there?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I 1st visited Ukraine for Eurovision over 4 years ago. I had to make plans to stay in Odessa and fly up to Kiev for just one night as the apartment availability was closed. In fact what happened was that owners were "holding back" to get the most money they could and were left with many empty apartments in the end.

I really enjoyed my weeks stay in Odessa and few hours in Kiev, meeting many exciting and interesting people. So much so that I returned a few more times over the summer to both Kiev and Odessa.

I am Irish, and there are many similarities in culture and history between Ireland and Ukraine. For example, we both speak foreign languages in our respective countries. We both have a history of "losing out" to bigger neighbours to put it politely and we both have upbeat attitudes to the future, no matter how mad the situation is today.

Did you know that the 4 quarterfinals for the Irish dancing world championships are held in Dublin, London, New York and.......Kiev.

Many other similarities exist, even the music has the same ballad theme running through it.

Anyway, I had looked at moving abroad for many years, as to me Ireland had lost it's roots, with the Celtic tiger tuning many people into material driven idiots. I still love my country but feel it lost it's way for a while.

Kiev is a beautiful city. The people here are good people. The night life is good and it's never boring.
