Unhappy day for a turkey
It's your problem if you take my posts too seriously.

We're prone to do things our own way - so today we'll have duck.

And a hodge-podge of dishes whose names I really never committed to memory.

Enjoy the day!

I was reminded this morning by my Russian girlfriend that Thanksgiving is the holiday that we Americans have to express thanks for all that we are thankful for. I want to take this moment to say thanks for all the great advice I have received from members here and for the entertaining stories that have been shared. I am thankful for everyone and their contributions and willingness to help each other through this process.

My girlfriend sent me this message this morning:

"From the very beginning I want to wish you The Happiest Thanksgiving Day!!! If I understand right this day exists especially to tell “thank you” to people you want to say it.
so I`d like to say a couple of my thanks too)))
Thanks a lot to your parents that they had given you a birth 37 years and a month and a week and a few days ago! And thank you that you had found me last year and had written me once and were (have been being actually :)) so interesting, so polite, so wonderful person… so MY one)))"

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Unhappy day for a turkey

RussianWind, what you need is a man to help you leave behind all your sorrows and to keep you warm all Winter long! I think one or more of us gentlemen will volunteer to keep you warm!

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm signing off to go eat some Turkey!

Amazing Thanksgiving!

My wife dislikes cooking.  Always has, and even wrote such in her profile (it was the truth and made men seeking a housekeeper/sex slave to ignore her).  She actually cooks well, especially considering she never reads, never measures, and never uses a timer.

Last year we ate our Thanksgiving Dinner at the country club.  This year I insisted on doing it ourselves and insisted that she would help.

So today I pulled her into the kitchen at 10am, and 'helped' she did as we did not eat until 6pm.  She have me a solid 8 hours!!!

-  Best turkey I have ever had (lots of fresh herbs basted under the skin and liberal use of key limes now in season on a tree in my garden).  The kids kept calling it a big chicken.

-  Brussel sprouts tossed with sauteed wild mushrooms

-  Her famous mashed potatoes with a touch of garlic (her idea)

-  Steamed yellow squash

-  Oysters with country bacon (everybody's favorite)

-  Herbed dressing for stuffing (from a box but my stepdaughter raved about it)

-  Gravy made from pan drippings

-  For dessert an apple walnut cake made from scratch (my stepson's favorite)

A couple bottles of New Zealand sauvignon blanc.

And the Russians really got into the spirit of giving "spasibos" to a higher power.  What a change from a year ago.
