Family Homestay Visa?

As Elena already has a flat where we will be staying I was wondering  how do I file my part of the visa to go to Russia. Will it be a  homestay visa? If so, does Elena fill out the paperwork for me or her  family? Forgive me if this is really simple but I came here first and  am going to the govt. sites next.

Ken,

I wouldn't bother with filing for the homestay, big hassle.  I've  been staying in my wife's flat for years when we visit and never  bothered with the homestay BS.  I have always used http://www.traveldocs.com  for my visa and they register it for me at no  cost.  No muss, no fuss.
