I just started searching for flights from Perm to Dominican Republic and it looks like it's going to be as much of a nightmare as it was for me traveling from Toronto to Perm.

It's the Moscow-Perm-Moscow leg that's the killer.
Aeroflot has a convenient Moscow flight at 1:10 am  that arrives in Perm at 5:15 am.
You usually have to sit at the Moscow airport for 6+ hours too before boarding your early morning flight.  :(

Tips for complicated flight trips.

1. Try to book a trip from your departure point to the final destination from one source (one ticket). It might be more expensive, but if you try to organise a trip with saving money as the primary goal, things can go wrong i.e. cancelled flights or delays, which render the tickets for the next leg worthless if you miss the flight. (I don't allways follow this advice for myself as I calculate the risk from experience)
2. Sometimes if the travel requires a lot of time, i.e. more than 24 hours it can be good to book a layover, to avoid stress and be refreshed. (allways worth checking on as it can be well worth the small added expense) I personally enjoy taking Iceland Air to and from Europe, as the plane allways stops in Reykjavik for at least an hour and a half and you have the option for up to 7 day layover without any extra cost for the ticket. (just an example)
3. I like to prepare a folder with copies of all the travel details and passports (having a copy of your passport is allways a good idea), as well as phone numbers which I think may come in handy (easy to get from the internet)
