Chechnya and Iraq
« on: May 09, 2008, 11:39:11 PM »
Two very unpopular wars. In Russia, what was the average persons reaction to all of it? The first one was pretty bad and I can't believe the Russians pulled out. I personally do not understand why it was fought.

rring, probably people think that the military forces have been used by Russia when Chechnya wanted independence.
Some Russians think rather bad of Chechens, believing that Chechnya should be totally depopulated.

As for Iraq war..suppose it should be about control over oil.

I guess it would be more correct to compare Checnya to ETA \ El Pais Vasco in Spain (internal conflict) than to Iraq (external agression).
