Dual citizenship?
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:40:46 PM »
I'm under the impression that having been married 4 years, my wife could apply for US Citizenship.  Is that true?  She came over on a K1-Visa, received her conditional green card, and now has her unconditional one.

Does she have to give up her Russian Citizenship?  If not, please see my Russian Passport post <laugh>.

She is being told on some of her discussion forums that Russia is not issuing Visa's to former Russians traveling on American passports.  e.g.  She is concerned that if she becomes a US Citizen she will not be able to go back to visit.

Does anyone have recent related experience I could pass onto her?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin !! It's been a long time....   glad you're all well. How old is that daughter now - 17?

She qualifies - see this link...

She keeps her Russian citizenship. She WILL need to hold a current Russian Int'l Passport when traveling, and
thus, will not need a visa of any kind. Evia will travel to Russia on the Russian passport, and return on her USA
passport. The Naturalization process took us about 3 months. Passport issuance ran only 22 days from app to
receipt. Be prepared to fork over two fees for both ladies...

Hi!  my step-daughter is about to turn 15.  All grown up, at least physically!  She fills a bikini better than her Mom.  Fortunately for me, she isn't serious about boys yet although she has plenty of Senior boyfriends (and she is a Freshman).

That link didn't work, can you check it or give me the drill down path?

Thanks for the quick response!
