Don't you just love it when...
« on: July 03, 2010, 05:49:31 AM »
Those of us married will no doubt have had situations where we've thought, "Thank God I married a RW."

Maye it's just my wife,  but I suspect others also have the good fortune to benefit from the different way she sees things.

I thought it's be fun it we shared some of the unique perspectives on live our FSUW bring to our lives.

I drink very rarely now but when I do I want to enjoy it.

My local bottle shop stocks Obolong Beer from Ukraine and I really enjoy it,  but the other night when I went up to pick up a 6 pack they were out of stock.

I grabbed a 6 pack of Peroni instead, but took a punt on the Low Carb, slightly lower alcohol version for a change.

It sucked.  Watery, lifeless boring little brew it was.  Ewwwww....

Anyway,  we were shopping today and I said I was going to pick up another 6 pack and she said, "Why?", and reminded me I still had four in the fridge from last night.

I said it was low alcohol, low carb and it didn't taste any good.  I wanted the normal one instead.

Well...  this is what struck me as different... and funny.

"Darling,  why do you bother buying this low alcohol beer.  If you want to drink beer,  drink beer.  This low alcohol beer is a waste.  If you like water, drink water, but when you want beer it's better to just drink real beer, OK?"

Errrr.... OK darling,  I will focus on high alcohol beer next time.   :P :P

It's tempting to categorize this as similar to taking a child to amusement park and seeing the rides and attractions through their eyes but, of course, this is grossly unfair to FSUW.

I love that sense of newness we get when she sees things I take for granted and she causes me to take a second, deeper look at it in order to explain what, why, how, etc.

One of our best moments like that was watching real, working cowboys roping, branding, castrating and vaccinating cattle on a ranch.

Another was taking her tent camping for a couple of weeks and then spending a couple of days looking at trailers. "Houses on wheels" are something they have little experience with in the FSU. Showing her how we build travel trailers and manufactured homes was a simple thing that became a fun memory for us.

The list of little everyday things goes on and on.
