Road from Kiev - Kharkov

23/04/10 - Have just driven to Kiev and back today from Kharkov. The road is now alot better. Many potholes filled in. It took only 5 hours to get to Borispol Airport - and another 30 mins into Kiev.
Total drive time was 5 and half hours each way. Stopped at Shell Petrol Stations for proper fuel and coffee !
Police stopped us doing 122km/hr in 60km limit - managed to bluff our way out of paying a bribe !

Hey Simon,

Just two weeks ago that same drive took an extra hour. One of the worst roads in Ukraine was between Kiev and Kharkov, even the hiway to Lugansk was better.  Taxi and private drivers were charging extra to go between Kiev and Kharkov.  It's amazing how quickly the road was repaired.  The two presidents need to meet in Kharkov more often.

Yes its alot better now - last year it was taking 7 hours sometimes !
If I had a big Black Toyota I could do it in less time ! - I wouldn't need to stop at traffic lights or junctions or even look out for the cops - I could drive like a bloody idiot, just like all the other Black Jeeps and Mercedes do !

I have taken the road many times and from city center to city center never more than 5 hours 30 minutes.  Road is dangerous as many drunks on it.

Yes, the current joke in Ukraine is that:  Other cities are pushing for a meeting between the two presidents . . . in their city;  so the road between their city and Kyiv will likewise be greatly improved.
