One of my first dates in the FSU was with a girl who turned out to be 17 after lying about her age.   This reminded me of the conversation about what she wants to do when she grows up.  She still played with toys(!) and told me that she wants to make a lot of money and drive a BMW like her toy one.  I ended up getting trashed with her dad and going home shortly thereafter. Felt like high school again being driven to the metro station by dad with my date.

What could I even talk about with a 25 yr old

Since I'm always around people in their early 20s in my profession, these kind of comments confound me.

What in general can't you talk about with a 25 year old that you can talk about better with someone your age? Reminisce about your high school days? Seriously, I'd like to know.

I think it has much more to do with common interests than with age. Hell, my 10 year old niece is more interesting to talk to than a lot of people my own age.

... and a 17 year old that still plays with toys... that's mighty strange, don't you think?

well I guess you can have a general conversation.but their is no way you would have any shared life experences
I have taught a mens group in my church and even guys in their early 30s  are just realizing things I learned 15 years ago

and besides its kinda hard dating when she not allowed out on school nights   LMAO

A 25 year old, not allowed out on school nights?  :noidea: Are you serious?

What kind of shared life experiences do you need to talk about? Raising children? Going through a divorce?

What type of things are guys in their early 30s 'just realizing'? What kind of shared experiences would you have with an older, rather than a younger Russian woman?

If your profile looks indeed like you described it, the probability is high that the 10 - 15 letters per day don't come from the girls as you think they do ;)

I agree 100%. I spend everyday talking to numerous 20 something's about a myriad of things from music to religion to raising a family, tattoos, business possibilities, literature, philosophy, psychology, movies, fashion, the ballet, corruption in Russia, etc. You know things I talk to people in their 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's etc. about.

These are also subjects I could talk about when I was in my teens.

But I assume your knowledge and perspective are different than when you were in your teens.

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

You know Boethius, about 10-15 years ago I went over to my mom's to help her clean out some closets in her house. They hadn't been cleaned since I was living there during my university days (maybe longer) and mom was a sentimental type who liked to keep everything and not throw away anything. I happened across some old term papers that I wrote for my Philosophy class when I was about 20.

What surprised me at the time was the depth of the papers. I actually couldn't believe I could write in such a way when I was, ahem, so young. I left feeling proud not only that I had helped my mom, but at what I wrote back then.

Yes, our perspectives can and do change over time, but really not as much as we'd like to think. I still learn from young and old alike and IMO perspective doesn't have time limits or age brackets. I always try to take into account the individual. Your point is not lost nevertheless.

Personally, I hope that I remain young at heart as George Burns use to say, and that I will always look at life with the amazement I had in my youth as I do at present. Doesn't mean I'm childish (yes debatable ;D), only that I prefer to look at life as beautifully unpredictable and at the same time frustratingly unexplainable. I also want to get the most out of each day, like I did in my teens. I hope I never lose this trait and that the person I share my life with will do the same, whatever her age may be.

Huh? Ever fall in love? Bet they have too. Do you like animals or have pets? Guess what? They probably have them to. Ever learn a lesson from doing something dumb? Guess what, they've most like done so also. Instead of just lusting at a pretty photo try engaging them in a real conversation, you might find it eye opening.

But yeah, their taste in music, clothes and such are probably not in line with yours. But you can't have everything)))

What you do not seem to realise is the sophistication of software that sends out these letters. The more you add to your profile, the higher the chances are to receive letters from women you may be interested in.
If you fill in no information, you only get letters from thos who did not fill any criteria.

Do the women send these letter ? No. The computer system does. But if you get an offer in your e-mail from a company you do business with "made specially for you" chances are that it was not made specially for you either.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Wrong. So very very wrong.  ;D

The youngsters in central Novobisirsk are straight out of Cali 1985. You've got the goths and new wave kids (now known as 'emos'), punks, skateboarders, breakdancers bustin' moves on their carboard. Makes me want to bust out with some clove cigarrettes and the time warp would be complete.

Russia is the one place in the world outside my mp3 playlist where A-Ha is still popular and you can actually hear songs by Modern Talking, Alphaville and Scotch  :P

PS: Oops, most of you were already old fogies in the 80s. I forgot about that. ;)

Oops, most of you were already old fogies in the 80s.

Keep in mind that many of us old fogies have kids.  Didn't you drive your Dad nuts.  I sure did my Dad.  Then when I became a father I discovered again that the world is round - what goes around comes around.

With kids one can't help but be remolded by a new era.  Long term osmosis.  That does not mean I listen to the crap they play, and one Jackass movie was enough.  :D

I agree with Jooky.  The whole FSU seems to be stuck in the 80's and I wonder if they will ever get out.  Its more like a 80's hybrid with modern technology.
