Some people just don't want to listen
« on: November 19, 2010, 01:11:18 PM »
I have my hair cut at a salon nearby. The woman who cuts my hair ( a slim, tall, blonde "9" who would put some RW to shame BTW) knows about my past adventures with RW, my marriage, and now cuts my wife's hair as well. She told me a few months ago that another client of hers, a man about 54yo, told her that he was talking to a RW from Russia who was about 25. She told him a bit about me, and asked me if she could give him my phone number and maybe help him out. I agreed. She gave him my number and told him to call me, but he never called. The next trip I have to get my beautiful locks cut I get an update. She wants to come here. ( of course). She has "papers" ( of course) and just needs the plane tickets.( only plane tickets?  ;D ) Since he does not really want to take a trip to the FSU and looks forward to having her here, he is thinking about this arrangement. In the strongest words possible, I tell her to tell this guy he is going to get ripped off and that it is next to impossible for this woman to "just come over". Ain't gonna happen. He is being scammed.

Today I find out that he sent her money for the tickets. But she never arrived. Duh. This RW tells him that she was stopped at the security line and was not able to get on the flight because..gonna love this...the police would not let her leave Russia because her small silver necklace was an heirloom and too valuable. And she is heart broken. :'(. And, of course, he has not heard from her again. Although he keeps trying.

All he had to do was make one phone call. Oh well, I tried.

He falls into the category of those who would be better off to avoid searching for foreign women.
But if he has enough money, one of three things will eventually happen.

!. He will meet a woman who will see the opportunity to clean him out....or
2. He will get lucky and find a sincere woman and live happily everafter...or
3. He will eventually learn from his own mistakes (as he has allready demonstrated that he isn't clever enough to learn from others)

Any way it goes though it will be most likely by chance.

Manny, TomT, Shadow,

Say it please.

THIS PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF THE MAN SIGNED UP WITH HRB.

Wow!  This scam is such an old one that it is almost as bad as selling the Brooklyn Bridge.

This man needs to start thinking with his head and not with his other head (if you know what I mean).

If not, he is going to make a lot of scammers rich and himself quite poor.

Not sure what to make of the last post, but I tend to think that the silly people who chase after Western $$$$ this way don't really make that much money.  The occasional score, but nothing reliable.  Could be wrong--don't know anyone who does this business.  Perhaps others do.

The post was deliberately tongue in cheek however the point was (and is), so long as there is an impossible dream, there will be umpteen idiots ready to buy............

This guy probably would have proposed during the first meeting. You can't make this stuff up.

I know a local guy that started chasing FSU women on the net. The guy is about sixty. I talked to him at length about not sending money or falling for the obvious scams and other things. Specifically told him to never send money for airline tickets.
He did exactly that to the tune of 4k for a hot 30 year old who he never talked to on the phone. Of course she never showed. I'm sure it was party time for some dude in Moscow for awhile. Amazing.

[A] durak will always find a way to be parted from his money, irrespective of whether he uses dating sites or random encounters.

(Since there are no articles in Russian, it seems awkward to write: "A durak.")

Yes, sadly many people refuse to accept reality.  Sometimes the dreams (fantasies?) of the lonely are too precious to sacrifice, even at a cost of many thousands.  As the saying goes

"Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for one second without hope"
Before you give any credibility to any criticism or advice you receive here, read the poster's prior 20 posts and consider accordingly.

He would not have listened. All talking to you would have done was interffer with his fantasy. Same for reading the ten commandments.
