Well, if the recruiter tells me that I have to enlist to be able to get the position I want and the benefits, then I'll enlist and go through boot camp and all that. So, even as a female, I'll be considered serving for a foreign army in my home country. Then... I don't know. I don't think it'll affect my parents or my rights back home. Idk, I have to talk to the recruiter, I'm not the most athletic woman out here and I'm not sure what my husband is going to say either. We just got married, after all.

hon_bun don't about the American military but in the years I spent in the UK I knew of several Russians (born in Russia but emigrated to UK and had UK citizenship) who enrolled in the British Army and served for years.  They had no problems with the UK government and frequently visited Russia with no problems.

Hon_bun--

Recruiters are usually *not* the ones to inquire with concerning civilian jobs with the military. Those all go through the U.S. Civil Service Commission and are generally posted publicly...or else they are with contracting firms that do their own hiring.

Recruiters are exclusively dedicated to filling the ranks of the uniformed service members.

Each military post will have some place or places where civil service requirements are posted; there also should be some postings online regarding these.

If you have some special expertise that is in demand, you might also contact the activity in the respective service that has the need--they should be able to direct you.

If you seek a job which is often done by civilians for the military, you should most definitely not have to enlist to get that kind of posting. Also, when in uniform you would have far less ability to work where you wish.

On the other hand, should you enlist you may find that your idea of "not being the most athletic" may do some substantial changing--especially if you were to enlist in the Army or the Marine Corps.
