FWIW, in cases like this (or in a museum or art gallery, for instance) I take a separate photo of the inscription/plaque/label or whatever to save writing things down or trying to remember later.  With digital photography you have space available for thousands of images on your memory card(s) - it only takes an extra couple of seconds, and you don't have worry about the composition of the shot because nobody else will see it.

I assume that we're getting to the end of the photos as you're now back home - it's been a pleasure looking through the eyes of someone seeing these places and people for the first time, and a greater pleasure to share in the realisation that you may have found "the one!"

I sincerely hope that you and Lena will be able to look back together on these in the years to come.  :couple:

Another hint for trip reporters: take a photo of the road or city map of the place(s) you visited ;).

For example, this is my 1-week car tour of Scotland, made way back in 1971.

2 is Stanislav Lyudkevych, a composer, and 3 is Volodymyr Barvinsky, a writer, journalist, political activist, and founder of several educational societies for the Ukrainian populace at large which was, at that time, largely illiterate.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Many thanks Boethius. Lena had told me who they were but I quickly forgot who they were.

Thanks for the photo laced trip report Hammer. The visual of where you've been tells a lot of the story.

I see you've even sat in the same bench as I in one earlier photo. Brings back some memories. I've even been to that cemetery. Over 100,000 bodies reside there and it's the most beautiful cemetery I've ever seen. Depending on the era someone is buried, there are distinct differences in style of headstones. Notice the soviet style headstones? Some headstones are written in Polish since the area was part of Poland many years ago. Many famous and important people buried there such as Archbishops. When I was there, there were many tour buses and and tour guides speaking various languages to their tour groups depending on which country they traveled from.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Hey Billy! Great to see you posting. Been a while. How are things going with you and your lady A? I hope everything is great. Yeah, Lena and I spent at least 3 hours walking the cemetary. You can definitely tell the soviet memorials from all others.Just look at Ivan Franko's and you can see what I mean.

21 May 11
Its Saturday and my last full day here in Lviv before my flight tomorrow back home. I lie here in bed with this wonderful woman beside me and reflect on how I got to this moment. I don't want this to end at all. I wish I could stay here and just be with Lena but as usual, reality sets in. I know now that this is the woman for me. She loves me and it shows thriugh her actions. I have never had so much affection, love and care given to me by any woman I've ever been with before.
Since Its our last day together, Lena and I decide to spend the whole day in the flat just lying in bed watching tv, etc and later in the evening we pack our things and make all preparations for getting up very early for our taxi ride to the airport. We spend the entire day just enjoying each other's company and planning our next meeting together. We both agree for me to come back in December for Christmas/New Years. It's the next time I will have available vacation time. I we will both be missing each other very much but we both agree to chat to each other at least 2 times a day via Skype/Facebook.
We had a long discussion about our future together and Lena most definitely loves me and wants to be with me in the US. She says that her parents already approve of me and will support any decisions she makes and have even stated they would come to america to visit us. I have decided to formally propose to Lena in a very specially planned dinner when I come back in December. This will be my surprise for her even though she knows I am already serious about marrying her.
So, our last night together on this trip is spent cuddling and enjoying each other knowing that it will be a while before we can be together again. To morrow is going to be a very long and hard day for the both of us......

Everything is better than ever between my fiancee and I. Time and distance can either seperate people or make them closer. Hope the time and distance between your Lena will make you two desire each other more and your bond stronger.

Thats the way men should be ending their trip reports. some men talk about the food, sites and the city. Reality is most can't say such strong words about the woman they visited. They go home with some doubts.

Based off your experience with Lena and my fiancee, her mom, and their friends, I'm starting to have a much higher opinion of the women in Western Ukraine. From my and your experience, they are good hostesses and family oriented. Of course I'm sure their are some bad ones out there but if a good gets to know a lady well before visiting, he'll probably give himself a better chance to find a good woman compared to just getting on a plane for date with a stranger.

Billy, I'm really glad you and A are doing great. I'm 19 years older than Lena. Her mom is the same age as my ex. What I've learned being with Lena and her family is that as long as 2 people love each other, the age differences just really don't matter. Too many people are just too intractable and narrow minded in their beliefs about what a relationship should be like. I support you in your endeavor and whether it works out with you and A or not, I still think your a good guy.  :clapping:
