60 Minutes Aus, The Bride Game
« on: July 28, 2011, 01:11:09 AM »
Not sure if this has been posted before http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8276094 . I found it on another forum, 60 Minutes Australia did a brief sketch on Australian men seeking marriage in Ukraine. For someone like me who has only visited Ukraine to see friends it is a real eye opener on what to expect when starting this adventure.

All credits due to the orginal poster who found this  :clapping:

On a side note, the original poster mentioned that the link will only be up until Monday.

Just watched it over breakfast with my wife.

It's amazing that, even though some guys don't seem that daft of the face of it, they can be incredibly naive, or even dumb when faced with a pair of legs and breasts. One of the guys was talking about his girlfriend, who he'd just met, saying how wonderful she is including her personality; seriously? When they can't even talk one word of each others language. What a doofus.

Talking of meeting traditional girls; I never knew it was traditional in Ukraine to dress as a skimpy swimsuit model and try to titillate father figures.

I really had to laugh at the coordinators response when asked if these young girls were really interested in these old guys. He said, "they all say that they want a man like their father." lol

That was expected  :D  More hype.

On the surface,  those guys seemed fairly typical and average of those in the "hunt". It was a bit refreshing that they didn't portray the story as the 60 year old men chasing the 20 year old girls as so often happens with such pieces

What did I learn?  First, 60 Minutes AU is not 60 Minutes US.  There was no ambushing, only softball questions.   Interesting that Ozzie network TV shows women's nipples.   Too bad America is so puritanical.

Which man was Kuna?

I thought that particular UW had a lot of personality, although not nearly as much as her red cheeked mama.  The mama was fantastic and her personality would light up a room.  Personality is something one can ascertain and feel good about even if there is not a shared language.  Personality was something that really attracted me to my Cossack woman.  When she first visited me in the US, her English was still limited.  Yet her positive and warm personality came through, and my sons and friends said, "Why didn't you marry someone like her instead of....."

The Ozzie did have an interpreter.  However, I agree with you that important issues such as values and intelligence can not be ascertained in such a brief time, and can never be fully determined without much interaction and conversation in a common language.

And what was with all that kissing?  :couple: At dinner :couple: , in the garden :couple: , while mama played the piano. :couple:    I guess that is what you do when you can not talk.

Odd, because the men are in street clothes.  It was probably a tour requirement for the women if they wanted to participate (and get paid for showing up).

In response to the question of why UW vs. AW, one titillated geezer from NJ complained that AW were in love with his money, not him.  Hello.......

One father figure was doing the limbo.  Even you must award some points to him for that act.

I don't think that meant the UW wanted someone who looked like her father.

I thought the largest controversy was the protest by the feminists who claimed that most of the men were sex tourists and would promise anything to have sex and then never contact the woman.  Some decent RW have told me personally there is high incidence of such.

60 minutes (Au) has softened up quite bit over the 30 odd years it's been running.

He was already on the ground so technically, not a limbo.  Still, points for flexibility, as that guy was a father figure to the girls' fathers.

I remember the 70's in Germany.. the prime time soap commercials were great. Nipples galore. We all used to chuckle about dad's favorite 'TV show'.. (mine too..).
