update in Bavaria
« on: August 23, 2011, 11:32:02 AM »
Greetings and salutations all.

These past 4 months have been extremely busy.  After moving to Germany I found a nice house just outside the city limits (10 minutes from the office). Sofia and I were married in Seoul on June 16th and had the reception on June 19th.  She has been living here for the last month and ahalf, but just flew back to Korea to finish teaching her last semester and then will be moving here.  She's been gone a day and already I miss her :( .    She is an amazing woman and I have learned that old dogs can learn new tricks ;D   I'm dressing better, eating better (and healthier) and have found a new inner peace. She has done amazing things to the house (hopefully I can keep all of the plants alive) and turned it into a home. I've attached some pictures from my trip to Khabarvosk las January (when I proposed).

Take care and I'm sure I'll probably be checking in more frequently for the next couple of months.

ciao

Atta Bear! Since you live in Southern Germany (BavAria), you should also visit Bern in neighbouring Switzerland, they love bears there ;D.

Bear,

Fantastic news!  And you indeed have done very well.  I recall when you were somewhat discouraged.   Could not happen to a nicer guy; I imagine Sofia knew that.

Just one question, who are all those people in the group reception photo.

Congrats.

Just got back from 5 days (of really too much heat) in Munich with the wife. If you haven't been to Neuschwanstein Castle yet, I'd highly recommend it; http://www.neuschwansteincastle.net/Neuschwanstein-Pictures.html
Also, the Munich zoo is the best I've been to.

I felt sorry for the bears. Bern is nice though. The Onion festival is a bit of fun.

I was in Munich 2 weeks ago, the marketplatz was great.  I went the neuschwanstein back in 2007 and loved the area.  I plan on taking the wife there when she gets back. We went to Prague last weekend-very nice city (too many tourists though)

Well I am at home and bored, so I thought I would post a further update here.
Sofia returned to teach her last semester at the university in Korea and should be here with me in the first part of January  :D
Work is going well (for the most part) , I am being looked at for additional responsibilities over the other 3 senior guys of the same Supervisory title :D
I have a good team that requires minimal supervison and makes me look good which allows me to focus on some things to make their job better :D
I was doing the liason thing with the German police about a week ago and got my bell rung (which is why I am here being bored)  :(
I was helping the German police with a fight when I was kicked in the face and my ankle was messed up.  Apparently I had 3 guys on me at the same time after one of them kicked me in the face while I was on the ground with another one (it does the ego good knowing that according to the German police I was holding my own against superior numbers) .  So I ended up with a broken nose, 9 stitches and torn/sprained ligaments in my left ankle.  :(
I can deal with the injuries (been here before) but it's driving me nuts sitting at the house not really doing anything. Damn I must be getting old, I don't remember things hurting this much  20 years ago  ::) .  And of course my beautiful wife pointed out "I thought you were going to sit behind a desk at your new job"

January can'tget here soon enough......

And I thought the report would be about the Oktoberfest....
So how are those guys that fought you doing ? Did anything remain of them after the fight ?  :P
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Ouch.  Hope you heal quickly, bear.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten
