I was one of the oddbirds who traveled to CCCP in 1987.  I visited friends with the Dutch Embassy and did not go on a tour.  Tours were watched.  I was not.  That fact set off alarms when I departed Moscow.  They moved me to a private room for questioning by three well trained interrogators.  What seemed like eternity but was likely only a few minutes (and one phone call), they allowed me to pass.
