Hello new friends.  I'm a thirty four year old male, I try to split my time as much as possible between Houston and West Virginia.  I'm a Houston native.  I prefer the climate and culture of West Virginia, unfortunately there is much more work in Texas.
I'm very interested in learning more about international dating and marriage to decide if it is right for me.  I split with my exfiancee a few years ago and really started looking into dating again last year.  I started out with mainstream dating sites and I am sad to say, but I am disgusted with modern american women.  They are pretentious, over sophisticated and completely self absorbed.  The next woman that pulls out a cell phone at our dinner table will be taking a cab home.  At any rate, while discussing this with one of my Swedish friend he suggested looking abroad.  He and few other acquaintances have suggested searching in FSU due to my nature and values.  I've always been interested in Russian/ slavic culture.  It is my impression they are mostly honest, hard working, family oriented people.  There are certainly bad apples in every bunch, but what I've read so far seems to collaborate my notion.  I'm looking forward to reading your stories and learning from your experiences.

But sorry to burst your bubble re FSU people and women in particular.

They are, on average, no better or worse than AW (American women).

And, FSUW (former Soviet Union Women) are probably more likely to use mobile phone in any situation than AW.

If you prefer slender women, then look to FSU.  If that is not your major criteria; then just stay at home with the AW.

Thank you for the warm reception ML.  I was misleading in my initial post.  I was contacted by a Russian lady through a mainstream site, I was and still am hesitant to discuss this with many people due to the impractical nature of the arrangement.  She and I corresponded several times in about a weeks period so I did seek the advice/ insight of some of my European friends.  They're all westerners though and not terribly insightful, so now I'm here.  I've spent the past week reading over scammer forums and expectation forums, this site is incredibly extensive and actually informative so it has been my pleasure and my gain to  be a member.  With luck, hopefully someday I'll be able to contribute to it as well.

I'm looking into learning some basic Russian words, however, as with Spanish and German it would be nice to find a list of common Russian phrases or expressions.  Any advice is always welcomed.
