Ukrainian American Easter Dinner
« on: April 15, 2012, 07:37:07 PM »
Last week I reported on the Easter of 8 April.

Today, we had the real one.

Yushka (fish soup) with pampushki (dinner roll).
Salade Olivye:  Chopped pork on the bottom, then layered with chopped potatoes, shredded hard boiled eggs, chopped onions, shredded carrots, and mayonnaise on top.
Kovbasa (sausage).
Paska (bread)
Babka (bread)
Kolatushka (creamy substance made from milk and put on the paska; this was for me and was in addition to the normal white topping)
Piroshki with cherries inside.
Varenyky with cheese inside.

What was the American part?
I carefully opened and served Pinot Noir wine, and I took much time in opening a carton of low fat fake whipped cream to go with the piroshki and varenyky, and I poured from an open bottle of Baileys Cream.

And what was your real Easter meal?

A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.
