Table for 6
« on: April 12, 2012, 02:08:37 PM »
There has been a large amount of hype and advertising about this dating service "Table for 6".
To save others a lot of time (and maybe grief) here is what I have learned about it:
1.  Very high pressure sales organization
2.  They will not provide anything in writing or about their services or costs until you have a personal meeting with their representatives.
3.  Your phone will ring constantly until you speak to one of the reps.
4.  Once you speak to a rep on the phone, the only thing you are likely to learn is that you have to have a personal meeting to learn much about the organization or their services.
5.  Their purpose is to match you with a compatible date.
6.  Apparently the setting is a dinner date of 3 men and 3 women.
7.  After excruciating pain, I finally got the costs out of the women..... "our prices start in the low thousands of $$$."
8.  If it's not your bag, you can save yourself some trouble by not answering their ads.

Obviously not the same as the New Zealand version, unless you have a hundred dinners!  I've never used it myself, but my mother did (some years ago) - didn't meet Mr Right, but generally had a good time.  The woman who owned the franchise at the time became (and still is) one of her best friends.

Have no idea, just reporting what I was told.  I have the feeling that the high cost is for the membership and matchmaking service.  The woman on the phone was hesitent to give out any more information.  As though we have time to travel 50 miles to a sales pitch for something we can't evaluate in advance!

Fairly easy to evaluate in advance.  Just google on "Table for 6" (include the quotes) and read reviews from other members.   Looks like the cost varies depending on how much they think they can get from you, starting around 2k for 2 years.  A good deal if you meet the right person, not a good deal if you don't.  A good looking lady to one guy might be a bad looking lady to another.  But cheaper than 20-50k for an FSU marriage.
