bus terminal in Kiev
« on: January 05, 2013, 12:02:35 AM »
Does anyone know where is the bus terminal in Kiev - for Gunsel bus to go to Kherson? (other than in Borispol)?

I have found a very cheap direct flight from Luton Airport (near London) to Kiev Zhuliany International Airport (IEV) - return for only £82   (about US $120)

Normally, London Gatwick to Kiev Borispol - direct flight returns for £220  ($ US 330)

By the time you have completed your booking with Wizz you may find that the amount quoted has gone up a little.  ;)

The central bus station is about a 1.5 miles south of Kiev centre on Moskovs'ka Square, I'm sure the bus will depart from there.

Zhulyany airport is a great little place to fly to, much closer to the centre than Borispol. You can catch flights down to Odessa direct from there through UTair ... much more convenient than going by bus (IMO).

Agree with Vinnvinny - the bus leaves from the central bus station.  You can catch a bus or marshrutka (#9 or #22) directly from the airport to the bus station - it's no more than four kilometres and should only take a few minutes.  However, the bus stops are spread over quite a large area, with buses and marshrutki stopping and leaving from the streets surrounding the terminal.  This means that you won't be dropped at the terminal itself, but will have to walk some distance (maybe 200 or 300 metres).  The only arrivals and departures from the main terminal building are the long-distance coaches.

I used AutoLux rather than Gunsel, and their office is inside the terminal.  Although I didn't notice it at the time, I would guess that the Gunsel office is also inside.  Wherever it is, it will be clearly marked.  I see that the only two buses to Kherson are at 0945 and 2245 - I assume that you have factored this into your flight time.

Happy travels!

I have used AutoLux to Odessa, but, unfortunately, AutoLux doesn't go to Kherson, and therefore have to use 'Gunsel' as the luxury bus from Kiev - Kherson.

Yes, 0945 and 2245 are the only 2 from Kiev-Kherson.

Luton (08.15) - Kiev ZHU 13.25 which means at least 9 hours waiting!!!

Kiev KBP - Odessa leaves at 21.00 anyway, so am looking at Vinny's UTair now

Is that in 'Arsenal' - near the Statue of Motherland?

Yes, as Vinny says, there are add-ons with Wizz.

Your payment for the flight only gets you on the airplane.

Do you want to sit during the flight?

I was referring to the Central bus station

As I wrote in my somewhat messy earlier post (which I can't now edit), the bus terminal is not very far from Zhulyany, therefore it is also quite a long way from the Motherland statue (which is in turn quite a long way from Arsenal Metro station).  There is no Metro station at the bus terminal - the nearest one is a couple of (long) stops away by trolleybus.

Is that because you are writing upside down?   ;D

Nah...just for once I didn't preview, so didn't spot the misplaced square bracket!
