Sorry about the pressed for time comment. I'm just back from overseas and trying to get in a new house.

A driver/guide might be a good idea. Any good contact suggestions and all advice is appreciated.

If there is one thing that generally works better in the FSU than in the West, it is public transportation. Have your gal teach you t ride the buses, trams, trolleys, and underground Metro. That will be an experience, and it will also immerse you into the culture much faster than a protective driver and/or guide. So much is missed when traveling by car.

Riding public transport is so easy.

Allow the lady to be your sight seeing guide.

Also, local taxis are very inexpensive, compared to US cities.
