Is there a site like this for Romanians?
« on: November 12, 2013, 04:06:02 AM »
I lived in Ukraine a few years back for a summer school session.  It was alright, but I ended up dating a girl in class instead of a girl around town.  Turns out, that was taboo with the local girls, but they didn't seem to like me anyway.

I'm in my early 30's now and I don't want to end up divorced like so many people I know.  So I did a values test and it turns out I'd be more successful with Polish or Romanian women.  Looking at all the factors, I found that living in Romania might end up as a better lifestyle for me.  Basically, I like the mountains, sea, and their super fast internet speed.

Is there even a site like this for Romanian women?  Or are Romanian women much like Russian women?  I would think it's different just based on what I know about the differences on religious viewpoints.  Maybe somebody can help me out.

PM the member "PaulK".  You may need 3 posts to do this, I'm not certain.  He is married to a Romanian woman, lived in Romania, and knows a great deal about the culture.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

The OP is not Paul.  Nor am I.

There are similarities - they are both Orthodox for example.

What is the "values test" that you took? Was it online, or based on people from those countries that you know?

Hello Cojack,

I got your PM yesterday but figured that I would answer it here just in case someone else was interested as well.

There is no site similar to RWD for Romanian women that I know of.

When you ask "are Romanian women much like Russian women?" my answer has to be... some are and some aren't (sorry). Romania has descendants of Dacians (the original Romanians), Romans, Saxons, Slavs, Hungarians, Ottomans, Huns, gypsies (who are originally from India) etc. still living within its borders and it would be very difficult to give a general answer. With my personal experience, the descendants of the Dacians and Romans (what most people probably mean when they say "Romanian women") are different from Russian women in the same way that Latin people are different than Slavic people. The Romanian women I have met have always been ready to share personal information and their feelings sooner than the Russian women I have met, they have shown a greater importance towards family and their parents than the Russian women I have met, but when it comes to religion they are basically the same, one difference is that Russians use the old calendar and Orthodox Romanians use the new. Most Orthodox Romanians are religious in the same way that most Catholics and Jews are religious, they have a belief in a God but you wont see them in church or synagogue worshiping him.

If you are looking to move to Ukraine, Russia or Romania, I would have to think that life would be much easier in Romania for a foreigner just due to the country being a European Union member. There isn't any kind of nationalism like you find in Russia in Romania and violent crime is very low, Bucharest is one of the safest capital cities in all of Europe, even when compared to its western (and U.S.) counterparts.

Good luck with your search.

There are several sites for Romania.  Probably need to know German as most of them are in German language.  But there are a few with English.

I'm confused here…   How old are you and how old was that girl?

I'm confused here…   How old are you and how old was that girl?

I'm in my early 30's.  She would be in her late 20's now.  It was during my mid 20's that I met her.  She was Polish, and that really upset the Odessa girls.

What is the "values test" that you took? Was it online, or based on people from those countries that you know?

It was OKCupid...  Answer a few hundred questions and they send you a map where you'd have the most matches.  I pretty much matched with all of Latin America and Philippines, with Poland and Romania being the only 2 in Europe.  So I figured what the heck and started looking into countries where I would be comfortable living.

There is no site similar to RWD for Romanian women that I know of.

When you ask "are Romanian women much like Russian women?" my answer has to be... some are and some aren't (sorry).

With my personal experience, the descendants of the Dacians and Romans (what most people probably mean when they say "Romanian women") are different from Russian women in the same way that Latin people are different than Slavic people. What I want is someone who is family minded.  So Romanians seem a good fit.  I would like to find someone that does go to church more than just holidays, though.

Thanks for the helpful responses.  I'll update with any progress if I decide this is right for me.
