New Member Introduction
« on: November 16, 2013, 02:50:07 PM »
Hello All

New Member here..... Thought I would join to see what is up with Men looking for Russian or Ukraine women.

Been married to one for 15 years. Was over in Russian more than a few times after the collapse.

Was intrigued by the women there so much so I married one.

After 15 years of being married to a Russian Women and having 2 children well I think by now I know what they are about. Well who really KNOW ABOUT WOMEN especially a RUSSIAN WOMEN!!!

Also now have many Russian Friends so my experience with all things Russian is interesting.

I also was involved in the COLD WAR and dealing against Russia. I can say this there is not a more deceptive group of people in the World during these times. I think it is their Genes. So when I was
over there things got very interesting.

I have also been to many Russian Cities just "Hangin Out" in the mid 1990's. At that time no one
went over there to "Hang Out" so I was a "ODD DUCK" to say the least.

Well wanted to say Hello and maybe I can add some LIGHT to some discussions here.

SKIDODDLE.

Hello ML,

To reply to >>>

Welcome aboard!!

"Could you elaborate on the above please?"

Yes my beginning professional experience is below>>

Just out of University I was interviewed by the FBI, CIA,  DOD (NSA) and took the job offer with the DOD.

I obtained my Top Secret Clearance in Washington then was assigned to Submarine Base Bangor on the
newly deployed SSBN Ohio Class Submarine Program in the early 80's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_class_submarine. This was our third deterrent and
very important one.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/news/2003/10/mil-031030-subpac01.htm

I cannot reveal what I did but it involved the Soviets and Submarines.

Later on in the mid 90s, I went over to the Former Soviet Union. And had some rather interesting
experiences since they knew of my background, when I was coming, before I got off the plane in Russia.

I think they were confused when I just went over to Russia to "JUST HANG OUT"  No one went over
there at this time to "JUST HANG OUT"  But I did and had some great experiences.

What we have in technology they made up in overwhelming manpower and counter-intelligence.

All of that is over now ......... and I think Russia no longer even deploys 10 % of their submarine fleet or other military programs. Vladivostok is now an "OPEN PORT" as well as many of the Former
Soviet past time "CLOSED MILITARY INSTALLATIONs" that are now "OPEN"

The Russians were very interesting people from say 1974-1990. (Cold War) Well also throughout history.

Regards Skidoddle

Welcome to the forum and your last post was quite interesting, very cool actually.

I was over there not too long after the collapse as well and I do think it was really interesting, much more so than my later trips but traveling there was also more challenging.

Hello Turbo,

Around 1996 traveling anywhere in Russia was very interesting. I stuck out like the American I was.
Apple Pie, Hot Dogs and Air Jordan just gives us away but had alot of fun.

I knew I was followed because the "People" whatever alphabet soap Agency there had a informal talk
with me ...... I have no idea if it was the FSB, KGB or Mafia but they were polite and civil............. but really interested in what I was doing over there. I was not attached to any embassy or made any drops or pick ups so it just plain curiosity. After 3 months living there and running around all over the area.....I was later befriended by some Top People over there ..... went to their parties and family gatherings.

I took alot of photos and wrote in a journal just met the local natives. Some of the best trips anywhere
that I had. I got invited to alot of gatherings because I am from Santa Barbara.

All the Babushkas over there at this time were watching that SOAP Santa Barbara........man was I popular!! I had some photos of the beach here ect ect and they really wanted to see those photos
of Santa Barbara................I had no idea who the heck Julia was in the SOAP!!!!

Welcome, Skidoddle.

I think that during that time both sides were deceptive, and of necessity.

There are several submariners here if not mistake and they may have shared or similar experience.

Thanks for your info.  However, I was most interested in this part of your wording:

"I can say this there is not a more deceptive group of people in the World during these times. I think it is their Genes."

That's what I would like to hear more about.

Ok some folks have asked me to explain my statement here>>>

"I can say this there is not a more deceptive group of people in the World during these times. I think it is their Genes."

I do not want to offend anyone Russian here but will just answer the question directly.

I guess we all could discuss "Corruption" for some time and our own here in the good
ole US of A.

Here we have it but typically not to the extent that it is in Russia or the Ukraine or other
former Soviet Countries.

If you are not within the "IN CROWD" in Russia you are OUT. That simple.

I have met ALOT of Russians and Ukraine's being married to one for over 15 years.

Problem is to get almost anything done in Russia or like country there one has to resort
to and deal with the corrupt system. What do they say about corruption it corrupts
completely. It is systemic there.

I have been around it for 15 years with my wife her family and many many Russian Friends. Any Russians
I meet over here and they want to stay and never go back.

Just the way it is......hard really to explain until you get to know the Russian World View and that is hard
to grasp unless you live with them daily.

Welcome skidoddle, as a fellow submariner I welcome you to the forum. I spent 20 years in the FBM community. Most of that time was spent right at the sub base in Bangor during the 80's and 90's. I have since retired and still live and work in the same community. Again, welcome and I look forward to reading your future posts.  :welcome:

Welcome to RWD, skidoddle! Your experiences and observations on FSU practices and psychology will be very interesting and appreciated, I am sure.  8)  I am on the verge of marrying a Ukrainian lady who was a leader in her Komsomol class group upon the dissolution of the CCCP. As a former Marine fighter pilot in the Cold War, constantly training for combat against Soviet tactical aircraft, I could have never imagined having such a future relationship.

Skidoddle, very interesting!  Did you have to notify the State Dept. that you were planning a trip to Russia, when you first went?

A friend was in some sort of secretive branch of govt and does not have a passport, instead having some seperate kind of document (a travel clearance?) that allows him to go to different countries.

Another co-worker was a German national who was prohibited for 10 years after his service from visiting a list of countries including the FSU.
