Russian and Crimean girls, K-1 VISA
« on: November 11, 2014, 12:52:14 AM »
with all the stuff written and said in western news outlets about Putin/Russia/Crimea, will that affect  a girl from getting approved in a K-1 VISA. Will it be a longer process than that of a Ukrainian or Moldovan woman? Will it increase the chances she will be rejected?

What "girl?"  Someone from Crimea?  from Russia?  Or where?

Good question as far as Crimea.  Had not thought about that.  The US and Ukraine do not recognize the government in Crimea.  I'm not sure they would process a visa from Crimea.  As far as I know, the US is till processing visas from Russia.  Not sure how long that will last.    ;D

If I was just starting this adventure I would definitely steer clear from women in Crimea. Just setting yourself up for unnecessary heartburn...

If the woman lives in Crimea, it would depend upon what international passport she may or may not have, Ukrainian or Russian. Also, how many here remember back when all K visas for Ukrainians were processed at the US Embassy in Warsaw, Poland?

Another problem could be the police report if the woman lives in Crimea. Does she need a Ukrainian one, Russian or BOTH?

Also, it is not easy to travel from Crimea to Kyiv and back again. As far as I know, there still are no flights.

I can see where the right hand (Ukrainian/Crimean) doesn't know what the left hand is doing (Russian). How motivated will the embassy of moscow will be in processing k-1 visas from crimea, or will they try to say that it is kiev's responsibility. how hard is it to travel from crimea to moscow or kiev, depending which documents they have to retrieve or process.

I had a friend who has her own private practice, works for the state dept., and has contacts there..and has said thay Crimean and Russian K-1 VISA applications have come under additional scrutiny and has increased the % of rejections to immigrate. If asked-officials will deny this.
