Where do Chinese Men go for MOB Brides? Vietnam, apparently!

Here is an interesting article that appeared in Bloomberg.

I was astounded at the huge disparity between the number of men born vs. the number of women.

I saw quite a few Asian guys with Russian girlfriends/partners/wives when I was in Vladivostok.

I know a lot of Korean guys also find MOB from Vietnam and Uzbekistan as well.

I convinced one of my Chinese-American work colleagues to give FSU women a go. He joined the site I met my wife on, naively expecting him to have the same luck as me. Has been on it for just over a year now. He just can't seem to pique the interest of FSU ladies, he's not an ugly guy; just short and thin. From what I've been able to gather, he probably lacks the masculine polarity to attract much interest from FSU women. I'll probably suggest he try South America or Vietnam now.

Russians don't like the Chinese.  Ukrainians maybe more open to them, but I have seen them more open to black and Indian men over Chinese men.  Its the culture.

If it were me, I'd recommend he try Asia.  From my experience the guys that do best with the South American ladies are masculine and either muscular or on the heavier side.  Being short and thin does not go over well at all (generally), and he will face an uphill battle with respect....imo...my wife likes to see me well-fed and has complained that our son is too thin...when he is actually quite robust.

In hindsight this was something I also noticed too throughout  my travels around the FSU. Being on either end of the extreme of being too fat or thin isn't a good thing, but yes, he's probably to thin for most FSU women.

I am of Chinese descent and I have seen plenty of East Asian men with white women around in Kiev.  And I have plenty of Chinese friends in London who are married to women from Poland, Hungary and other countries from the central/eastern EU nations.  It all depends on the individual.

Yes, the negative stereotype of East Asian guys is that they're short, weak and nerds.  So if your friend is going to pursue women of other ethnicities he will have to break those negative stereotypes and break them hard.  He can't do anything about his height but he might try building some muscle and lifting weights.

I concur. During my travels around Vladivostok, I saw a lot of Asian men with Russian women. Most of the populace from the Stans, are Asian, and a large chunk of the indigenous Russian populace from around the Siberia area too. So you'd think at least some Russian women would be open to the idea of dating Asian men. Of course Russian women by far prefer white/European men, but Asian men would do better in the FSU than their black or Indian counterparts.

With regards to stereotypes, my retort is they exist for a reason. Most Asian guys I've met unfortunately do fit that description. Being over-represented in our top colleges but being next to non-existent in professional sports only further exacerbates these stereotypes in the eyes of most people.

Exactly right, Robo.  Not just for guys of East Asian descent but any ethnic minority.  Break the negative stereotypes (in our case; nerd, weak, short) while highlighting the positive ones (again in our case; intelligence, good earning potential, less likely to be players and more after serious relationships)

Just one more thing I have to say on this thread

CNN Money did a report on a Russian debutante ball here in London, and one of the guys is of East Asian descent and another one seems to be of South Asian descent:

Also, there was a Channel 4 TV show about FSUW on a few years ago, and one of the guys who seems to be doing well is of East Asian descent as well.

So your friend can do it, he just needs to work towards that goal.
