Reliable Telephone Carrier from US to Ukraine?
« on: June 03, 2006, 12:44:40 PM »
Does anyone know of a reliable long-distance carrier/provider
for telephone service from US to the Ukraine?

We have been using Vartec, but they routinely charge us for
calls that do not connect.  At least half of the time my wife
dials her family in Ukraine, she gets busy signals or the line
just stays dead indefinitely with no answer.  Vartec has been
charging us for these times, and after a while it adds up.

We use Champion Card to Russia. We are very happy with them.

We use MasterCall. Com.  It's 2 cents a minute using VoIP.  Sound clarity is like calling next door, no over charges, and no dropped calls.

I visited the website, jb. Your card appears to be the best that I have seen yet. At almost 2 cents per minute to Moscow is about what I was paying for Pennytalk yet I will get at least one or two disconnects per conversation and I do get the busy signal sometimes. The sound clarity is fine but the better service of this card of yours has to be worth me giving it a try. Thanks.

I've also had good luck with MasterCall. I call in via the NYC access number on my cell. If you use the 1-800 access it's 3 cents a minute more. Have also used this card to call back to the states from Russia and other countries. Worked well for that, too. Wendell in Austin

Do you have to change the sim card in the phone before you call back from Russia? last time I was in Moscow I forgot to do that. I had a $2,600.00 phone bill waiting for me when I returned home a week later. The damn phone bill may have been higher than my entire business class ticket up grades for both my son and I combined!

Ouch!!  :o Luckily, I remembered to change the sim card. I just made a local call to MasterCall's access #, then dialed all the necessary digits! Wendell
