Young Russian schoolgirls dancing provocatively goes viral amid feverish online debate

A Russian school has been closed by the authorities while it investigates a controversial video of young girls dancing provocatively at a dance concert in Orenburg while wearing the orange and black colors associated with Russian patriotism.

...Russia's children's rights ombudsman went onto Twitter to describe the dance as "vulgar" and "insulting".

The patriotic St. George ribbons worn by the girls have over the last year become closely associated with the colours of the Moscow-backed army waging war in eastern Ukraine

The video, which you can see at the link above, has drawn three million views.  The girls dancing look quite young, younger than I would have guessed by reading the headline of the story.

What are your thoughts about this incident?

My view is that the dance is vulgar and it is especially unfortunate that it was being done by young schoolgirls.

I agree.  Pretty gross for children.

Ironic that they are utiltizing a quintessentially American dance move, and American dance music.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

True.  It's unfortunate that other nations are importing the worst of American pop culture.

When my daughter was growing up, she was in dance competitions.  We would go to these competions and hear mothers yelling out to their pre-pubescent daughters to:  'Work, it, work it".  It never ceased to amaze me.

A lot of American "pop culture" is disgusting.  It's sad to see that trash embraced by kids everywhere.
