Do women want to leave Ukraine?
« on: December 26, 2015, 11:56:48 AM »
Interesting article reflecting a recent poll of Ukrainians and their thoughts in leaving home. As has been discussed here most have no desire to leave.

"According to the results, the overwhelming majority of the youth, 82%, would like to stay in Ukraine, rather than choose another country. 13% are looking for such an opportunity and only 4% are really planning to do it."

Maybe the stats below will help sway those still looking to certain regions so odds are in their favor.

"Those least proud of being Ukrainian live in the Odesa, Luhansk, and Donetsk Oblasts"

Most don't want to leave home, but if they fall in love with a man, most of them will follow
him to the ends of the Earth. It's never been a good idea to go after women who are desperate.
The agencies create marketing schemes that tend to appeal to the white knights out there who
want to rescue a damsel in distress.

International marriage agencies only attract a very small segment of women, it make sense
to use the FSU dating and social networking sites as well so that you can expand your net to
include a wider variety of FSUW.

The girl whom I was supposed to meet 3 weeks ago, wanted me to move and live with her should things work out.

I know some Ukrainian women personally, through FB or other social media sites and without any interest in dating, and most seem very proud of their country. However there is a breaking point. My friend just moved to Poland with her husband after years of struggling and already is doing better. Another friend left southern Ukraine and is again better off in Bulgaria and has plans eventually to move further west. I know a few more people in Ukraine and the story is the same, they work hard, have good degrees, and struggle. Therefore I think that many people may not be desperate to leave but rather they have that time when it seems like the best choice. And with other factors, it starts to make more sense.

That's pretty shocking info.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Only 5% of men ever get on a plane, 95% just write letters and have a fantasize
about having a FSU wife. Those 5 percenter's are the doers, the achievers. FSUW
have always wanted to stay home near their families and friends.

Some random thoughts....

From my experiences, everyone I know in Odesa is pro Ukrainian. It is only city in Ukraine that has had to fight
to keep their allegiance. There were also many marches in past couple years. The one city I thought would be first to fall was Kharkiv, the underground is very strong there.

What I find interesting( if I read right) many are proud to be Ukrainian but few are ready to fight for Ukraine.

The girls I know 'displaced' from Donbass region see no hope for Ukraine and would like to find a better life.

All the younger people we know in Odessa are pro Ukrainian. The older generation is more aligned with the Russians from my experience. Odessa is an unusual city though. It is very different than most of Ukraine and has always been a gateway for those leaving the country. We know many young people who are pro Ukrainian but want to leave Odessa for New York, Moscow, LA, or Miami. This is strictly for a better opportunity in life. They are entrepreneurs and hungry to succeed.

I always found it unusual that so few wanted to get involved and fight as well. My wife says it is because many do not trust any form of government still. Why give up your life for the new band of crooks?

But that goes against what the writer of article you quoted since article's sample was people aged 14-35.

I don't see Odesa as gateway to leave the country, it has been a gateway for years of many people coming into Ukraine. I agree it is an unusual city with its harbor and international airport. Many people from many nearby countries come visit and stay. I call Odesa a melting pot city...much like LA.

Those who are old enough to remember the Soviet ways and whose primary language is Russian will identify more with the Federation.

From the earlier link...

Yes, not sure I agree with the article completely. It was not a large sampling if I recall anyways.

Absolutely agree, Odessa is definitely a melting pot. Koreans in the markets, Georgians, Moldovans, African students, Turks, wealthy Russians, etc. Many of the younger Ukrainians from the surrounding villages and regions move there as well. I liken it to a funnel though.  Many arriving and the locals tend to depart for greener pastures. There is a reason NY and Miami have areas called Little Odessa.

Taken in LA during our RV trip out west in May 2014.

The key word is "like". Hand them a guaranteed ticket to a better life and many would take it. Most are proud they are born Ukrainian but they are not proud of the government and life there. The motivation of young people to sign up for the military to defend their borders against Russia didn't impress me. If someone hit America, we'd have tons of people ready to fight.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

A lot of it depends how the question is asked...

change the question just a little and the answer changes...

We need a government of action to fight for working families!
