For the newbie's part 2
« on: July 02, 2006, 06:53:19 PM »
Hello again guys,

Ok, here is an update for the newbie's on what NOT to do when writing to ladies

1) - Do not send a one line "Hi, I like your pictures, send me more, and tell me all about yourself", this is not going to work

2) - Do not send a 3 line greeting, with NO pictures and think you are going to be successful

3) - Do not fall in "love" after 2 letters and ask the girl to not write to anyone else because you are not writing anyone else (yeah, right your not).

4) - Watch how your sign your letters, signing them "with endearing love my darling "...." after 4 letters is not going to win her over.  We already have a bad reputation of saying "love" too much, which smacks of insincerity.  Russian ladies read every word you write so do not throw the "love" word out if you haven't even met them because they will never believe you.

5) - Watch what you name the photos you are sending.  Without going into too much detail (the member could be here :)) do not name a photo which could come back to haunt you.  I have seen a guy get caught in a horrible lie, telling the girl it was a picture of his bathroom (of course in the house he is selling).  Now I don't know about you guys, but who the hell puts a wall phone on their bathroom wall (ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, let me see, OK, a damn Las Vegas hotel does!!!!!).  Oh and as well, seeing the hotel shampoo, and logo embossed in the floormat is a dead giveaway.  Dumb A$$  ::)

6) - Be respectful of the ladies time.  Just because we have access to computers 24/7, the ladies do not.  Do not get upset, worried, or otherwise paranoid if you do not get an answer immediately.  Most of these ladies have demanding jobs and time is always so precious in russia.

7) - Do not look like a desparate guy, you will only come across as a loser.  Writing about your insecurities in life, your lack of dating experience, you have problems meeting women, your latest hospital visit to cure some infection is not going to help your situation.

Hope it helps.....

Cheers!!!

Other common mistakes made by men are

Thinking she will understand complicated words. A term I like to use is wordsmithing to impress. Your grammar and her grammar are two different things so keep it simple you will avoid many miss understandings.

Writing a book on your first letters is a good way to blow her mind some RW if not most RW will just not understand how a man can say so much to a person he has never meet.

Start slow and keep it simple always try to see things from her point of view. Always think even if she is getting help to read your letters the person reading them may not understand big fancy words. When I was living in Tver I had some of my best interputers ask what this or that meant, and when no one is there to help they will only guess at what your trying to say.

So if you don’t want her guessing at what you’re trying to say don’t try to look good in Text by completed grammar. Be smart and keep it simple, and always think that what we don’t understand we have a way of taking it in a negative way?

For those who are not going through an agency using translators (or even if you are) get yourself a translation program and translate the letter then reverse translate it back to your native language again. You will get some very strange variables. This will give you another tool to use to help break down your language into a more simple and clear form of communication.

No, these things are not foolproof and if you write something, translate it and send it without reverse translation a couple of times then you will more than likely look like an idiot. But with a few back and forth translations and some rewording of your letter you can get it to a good place where misunderstandings would be kept to a minimum.

I also agree that using big words will just confuse her.  If you write something that she doesn't understand she will more than likely skip it.  Then when she replies to you you won't get the answers you were expecting.  This is where misunderstanding start.  You will think she is avoiding the question when if fact she didn't see the question.

The translator Idea is good.  Also if she sends you a letter in Russian and you use your own translating program, use should us at lease two different programs.  Each program may read the letter differently.  I used three different program from online translators and still had to use a little guessing at the meaning.

Here's a HOT TIP: If your woman doesn't speak good English and doesn't have a @mail.ru account, tell her to get one, it's free. It has a translator and she can translate all your letters and translate her letters to you before sending it off. There's really no reason to buy additional software. But from my experiences, translation programs translate English to Russia than Russian to English. When you do write a letter, beware of the words with multiple meanings such as "kind" because you can only hope the translator does a good job. Also "may" and "May" are two different words. Yes, when writing months, you must capitalize or you may be giving out the wrong meaning when it comes to "may and "May".

For the newbies out there, don't hype yourself up because you can only go downhill from there. If you do trick a woman into marrying you as someone you're not, when she finds out, there will be hell to pay. Be yourself and find someone who can accept you as you are.

Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Good tip Billy.  I think even though there may not be translation software on the sight that Yandex and Rambler are better choices than mail.ru.   Mail does not give a lot of storage and has a lot of bounces.

She can always use a site like translate.ru for the translation.  Good post though.

I am sure that it is not as available to the women over there, but Microsoft Word has an online translation connection.  I use it as well as an other online translator.  And again I have the secret decorder ring.

If you are translating and correcting your letter before you send it the Word translation can help, it is very fast and you can use it while writing.  It pops up is a seperate window and you can compare as you go.

I bought my copy of Microsoft Word in Russia.  You can find it in any flea market for about $ 3.50.

Indeed, a big vocab is very very self-defeating here... no kidding. Write like Hemingway or R. Carver and you will be getting places for sure.  ::)
