They weren't Russians, as Russia was not a nation back then.

What about the indigenous peoples?  The indigenous people have largely been marginalized (and put on reservations) so white Christians can enjoy America.  (I'm not saying this is right or wrong.  I'm just saying this is how it is.)

Australia was intended as a penal colony.  Yes, there were aborigines there, but that fact is irrelevant to Australia being intended as a penal colony.

What does that have to do with Christianity?  Wherever the earliest inhabitants of North America came from, and whatever colour they may have been, they WEREN'T Christians.

Don't be so literal.  Modern people know that geographical region as Russia, so it's simply a point of reference.

That was actually my point.  By the way, you mean the United States of America (and, to some extent, Canada).  The indigenous people of "America," in general, have NOT been put on reservations.

The first Europeans in the modern era to "discover" Australia were the Dutch.  They had absolutely no intention of using the country as a penal colony.  When Captain Cook explored the east coast of Australia he certainly didn't recommend it as a penal colony.  That idea came only after further exploration, and some bright spark in Whitehall (or the equivalent) thinking that it would be a good idea to send the worst of Great Britain's prisoners to the other side of the world.

Australia's treatment of their Aboriginal population is one of the more shameful episodes of colonisation.

Your comprehension skills are really taking a beating, aren't they?  I specifically mentioned "pre-history" - none of the five you mention can be remotely considered as pre-historic.

Maybe not, but it appears that some of their descendants are alive and well!  In any case, it's now a mark of honour for many Australians to find a convict somewhere in their ancestry.
