Apartments vs Hotels

:arguing:
 :arguing:

Is booking.com the authoritative resource for finding apartments that don't have cement benches for beds?

Did I tell all you apartment lovers that those I stayed in sucked? I am not expecting Ritz which I had stayed in sometime ago. I am expecting at least Extended Stay level. Perhaps I picked the wrong ones to stay in Kiev. My pet peeves....cement beds, 1970s bathrooms. I don't give a *&^% about kitchens. I like to eat out and try various cuisines when I am in foreign country. I am cooking nothing.

Up thread Larry gave you a name and a web site. He got the information from me. Larry, JayH and I have used Olga's services. I added to the thread that she can find apartments in other cities. I have never stayed in an apartment that was not up to western standards. My only complaint about the beds is that they are too low to the ground. But the mattresses are comfortable.

Have you reached out to Olga yet?

We have reached a point where I think we need to agree to disagree and
let the newbies read both sides and decide for themselves.

My vote is for the hotel..

Only for a few days..

Get room service, send her to the spa.
Maybe get her hair did...

Play vacation for a few days...It is just as fun as House...

Nope-- you have made zero case . All your arguments apply to ongoing and more established relationship---  not a first meeting deal at all. That is the whole point of what i have said-  once established relationship different issues apply.

I have repeatedly qualified what I have said .Longer stays have a different criteria.
Not to sure how much clearer I could have been.

Jay, Big Bill and myself understand clearly what you are saying.

But we simply disagree.  The logic Big Bill laid out APPLY  FOR FIRST TIME VISITS.

Sure you can disagree, and likely your disagreement reflects your own experiences.

Big Bill and I have obviously had different experiences than you.

Someone could start a poll asking who has had good or bad first meeting experiences with hotels; and who has had good or bad first meeting experiences with apartments.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

All for the record ! :wallbash:

5. Stay in an apartment NOT A HOTEL!: I could list a hundred reasons why,
but there are always a fairly large number of jack asses men who will ignore
this.

Wrong, I specifically addressed first meetings among men who are using visit
one strategies.

REPLY -- no you didn't. You have often repeated the comment quoted above without qualification .In fact--you go further by handing out an insult to those who disagree.

Repeating yourself doesn't make your arguments more credible or mine have
less merit.

REPLY  -- that does not seem a problem to you -- you have repeated the disputed advice many many times!

REPLY  -- on that I agree and it is why I presented an alternative view . I disagree with giving unequivocal advice on how all newbies  should go about search

Sure, you do...

You just tell the likes of ML, Beel and others that the feelings of our FSU partners re being invited back to a hotel room after a date  is .... 'BS'..

I wonder what expression you use when being equivocal? :)

I do think it is BS. Maybe at one time years ago going to a hotel room was taboo, at least that is what I read in forums back then.

What I think married men don't understand is things are a changing. Still giving advice that is mainly outdated.

It is not a matter of going to a hotel or apt, it mainly matters on how 'close' your relationship is to a FSUW. I understand some wouldn't go into a hotel but if a girl is comfortable with me it is not a problem. I do know if a girl is to spend the night they would definitely want to get her passport info but that is always followed.

In Ukraine, I have mainly stayed in apts but in Russia mainly hotels. I do enjoy making breakfast, which is reason I like apts but some hotels serve an excellent breakfast for free.

Justs some thoughts

LAMan, I am 'married' - well not divorced, yet and I'm courting, now .....  The scenario is JUST the same.. This is the opinion of my intended and my ex to be - we discussed it this evening .. hardly a 'representative' stat, sure... but I base my opinion on ladies who have dated western guys.

I've just stayed in three different apartments / apart -hotels / hotel - in Moscow (2) and a resort  45 mins north of Sochi ..

Sighs, ..It's not about how she feels about you - whether she's hot to trot ..  .. It's how she will be perceived or the questioning she might endure.. [ slaps forehead :] this is her home turf..

Given  Moby persists in restating HIS OPINION repeatedly and attempts to invoke others with a similar OPINION to "support" his OPINION  -- note --

LAman is either in the FSU or has been there often in recent times!! :D

In Ukraine a person staying in the room  should in theory present id to the hotel-- who is required by law to see it and retain a copy.( cannot comment about Russia).
Generally speaking-- only asked for at check in --I have NEVER been asked to supply at later stage and sometimes not even at check in.
Obviously enough --not an issue to simply visit.

There can be many reasons other than staying overnight for a girl to visit a room --from being curious to see it to making coffee  etc !! !

I have often had some reason to return to room to do something, collect something, change clothes etc  -- a lot of potential reasons come up.

Only on very few occasions ( where common sense dictated) has a girl declined to accompany me.
The only time that old furphy has come up is in a joking sense.

Moby, I just don't fully agree with you. Sure there are girls like your 'ex to be'. And my opinion is based on a number of years dating in FSU. Some girls would accompany to apt or hotel room ... some don't. And I don't play house with them( strictly adult behavior ). lol

Perceived? Questioning??? Never have I seen it or experienced it. If you check in with a girl they will ask for her passport, in fact , recently, a girl just gave verbally her passport number, no verifying. Other times we just walked in and up elevator. When I first check in and next couple days , security does ask to see card( used to open room).

BTW- This past year in 3 trips in Russia, I stayed in 6 hotels and one apt (airbnb). Cost of hotels a little higher than apts looked at in Moscow( most of my stays). Rooms in hotel by far much nicer AND easier to have taxi take me to my place. Oh, and find perfect location, hotel definitely.

I will say in Odessa, I would NEVER stay in a hotel, why?, I know where everything is and how to easily get around.

And given that despite you keep telling  us you've been, recently - then describe scenarios which suggest you are impervious to ladies opinions/feelings or unaware of booking / payment options, then suggest the advice of others is from 'another era' :) ...

LAman is either in the FSU or has been there often in recent times!! :D

So?  I can think of people who write about their experiences of a place I've been to and wonder if it was the same place ...  Often the case with reports you post on 'Bad News for Russia', for example...

In Ukraine a person staying in the room  should in theory present id to the hotel-- who is required by law to see it and retain a copy.( cannot comment about Russia).

In Russia, the ID is copied - and returned. If the guest is not already registered, ID is returned upon registration.

In Ukraine, I have my ID copied and returned..

But, we are talking about arriving back at a Hotel, with a person NOT registered as staying at the hotel...

...I 'see' the just 3 weeks past scenario of SC and her missing keycard / ID - was just 'made up '' ? ;)

Security is a BIGGER issue, now - than I have ever experienced, in Russia, particularly

JayH, I've invited ladies 'back to my room' in hotels who would have been quite willing to accept - if it wasn't for Hotel security scrutiny / 'lack pf privacy'...

If you - or others - want to continue to suggest this isn't/ hasn't been an issue for you .. then carry on demonstrating you don't appear to be aware of FSUW lasses' opinions..

Part of Courting is to THINK about avoiding awkward moments, YES ?!...

I have no idea where you may have stayed, but if you are now suggesting Moscow hasn't got serviced aprts of a 4/5 star std... in good areas, that a taxi driver can find, easily...

I will say in Odessa, I would NEVER stay in a hotel, why?, I know where everything is and how to easily get around.

Hopefully, if you return to any Russian city you will pick up on the layout, as quickly and realise that MANY classy  hotels in Russia even offer apartments... though you may still have 'fun' escorting a lady through security..esp. if she's not the same one as the night before ;)
