New biometric Ukrainian passport

It appears that Ukraine is going to a biometric external passport. Does anyone know something about it?

Will it be required for international travel?

When will the rule take effect?

Can you get one at the Ukrainian embassy in USA?

Does anyone have one yet?

What color is it?

What does it cost?

It's certainly not a new thing

I know a few folks that have had 'em for some time

Having one means visa free travel in Schengen nations  ( EU / EEA ) but not UK / IRL - for example

T had hers (biometric) for 2 years now.  Blue passport with the biometric icon on the front cover.

Wife got the new biometric passport 3-4 year back, or whenever was almost the first opportunity.

Looks same as previous one, except for that icon on front.
