IIRC we have a whole thread on gun related issues.

We really need to repeat all that again?

The 2nd Amendment wins every time, at least in America. If it makes anybody feel better about guns, here's a fun fact. This coronavirus right now averages much more daily deaths of Americans than the average daily death toll of any war America has ever been in.

The covid I suspect. Apparently because of Chicago's stringent gun laws there was 70 covid deaths last weekend all with bullet holes

Despite the lockdown,

Quote
After substantial annual decreases, this year has seen a 23% jump in shootings in Chicago over the same period last year, according to police data.....

I mean, we're talking about a vaccine for COVID-19, right. Well, with firearm violence,” Dr. Gittler noted, “33,000 and 40,000 firearm deaths [occur] annually. Most of them are suicides. You don't hear people talking about that.”

Taken from here.

Then, the city's mayor and governor was giving lip about how the feds aren't doing enough for the city to help fight the virus.

Yup. But as an accountant, you know of course these alone wouldn't afford anyone the Martha Vineyard's lifestyle. I know they also received 'book deals', 'gifts', etc...which is exactly why I believe the stimulus bill is a gift that reaches far beyond.

If these things doesn't happen, none of our 'elected public officlals' would be in this business after all. I highly doubt any of them comes out destitute after serving offices.

Yes, sure I know that this money from we taxpayers is just a  small portion of what some of former elected officials earn.  Obama and wife both got large sums from book deals, as I recall.

I also remember that there was a huge difference between what some former presidents got from book deals and speeches compared to others . . . even among our more recent presidents.

Also read that Secret Service protection ends for former president's children when they reach age 16.  Yet Obama's youngest was surrounded by such when she enrolled at U of Michigan.

Anyway good that she understood that U of Michigan is among a handful of public schools that are just as good as (and better than some) Ivy's.

You drive in dangerous areas.  We avoid them, calling them "rim town," vs. uptown or downtown.   'Rim' means if you have a flat tire, you drive out the area on your rims.

HAHA.  No, two were in the city centre, which was, and is, relatively safe (I've walked up to six blocks to my car in worse parts at 11 pm, when the city core is pretty empty, 2 am, 3 am), and one was near the university.  The city probably is more dangerous now, because of the number of drug addicts roaming the streets downtown.

This post was composed without the aid of google.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

GCQ, if you ever paid attention, you'd note that the UK has not banned Shotguns, as long as you have qualified for a licence... somewhat harder to obtain than in many US states ...

LMAO! Pretty funny if not ironic considering the lack of attention on whose post you used for your response.

I'm okay with Presidents children getting Secret Service Protection for life, especially if they are women if they feel they need it. There could be stalkers in love with Obama or Trump's daughters.
