From what I hear from news analysts is that all this talk of protests in Russia and leaving the country amounts to just a few tens of thousands of people . . . and will blow over in due time.

Russian leaders knew this would happen, and went forward with the mobilization plans, etc., feeling the cost of protests was worth it.

Wife heard that Russia is issuing draft notices to those arrested in the protests.

Nice, guess they'll be the unwilling cannon fodder probably sent out front right into enemy lines without training probably without weapons as a way to get rid of them.

I think you're probably right ML, as a proportion of the population the few tens of thousands are real small, possibly they might include useful people but no doubt Russia will keep going without them. Here is a news article on the situation at present there:
