Separatist Movements in Russia

Occasionally talk on here has considered the idea of Russia breaking up. I myself have suggested this could happen if Russia's economy collapses due to Russia continuing its war in Ukraine. Here is an interesting article that details Russia's current separatist movements:

Many of these separatist movements ethnicity based and many go back to Soviet times so aren't necessarily a new thing. Whether they could successfully separate from a Russian Federation in economic turmoil and with it's military severely degraded remains to be seen. Theoretically though if the Russian Federation did break up there would likely no longer be a threat to Ukraine or Europe ever again and that I think would be a good thing
