Elena Petrova's book - question
« on: April 16, 2006, 11:07:57 PM »
Hi. I was wondering if anyone had an opinian about Elena's book called "How to Marry a Girl Like Me". Was it a good read with useful information? I ask because I was a little put off by the hard-sell approach advertisement. Is it worth the $50? Just wondering. Thanks.

I got it out just out of curiosity.   I think where you are in learning about FSU women might determine how usefull it was.

The only part that seemed usefull to me was she claimed that we all use the wrong approach in our search for women and she recommended something different.  I decided to try it on one gal and never heard from her again.  She was pretty too, humm

If you are looking for a good-looking business woman who has a high opinion of herself, knows very well how to use American business models including lawsuits, and can sell dreams....this book is perfect for you. :P

Very well put Shadow. I remember on her RW "cyberguide" about her opinion on the possibility that RW may marry for a Green card. She said very, very unlikely and listed some rather strained reasons why this is highly unlikely.

BTW it was her site and her essays there that was my chief guide when going to Russia to look for a wife. That plus Inna Mc Neil's Russian Romance site. I wished I had found a RWD at that time or better yet another "Maxx!"

If you need a book to teach you to talk to women you should just buy a dog and call it a day.

You are right.  very right.  I have heard that having the right dog and walking it in the right areas is one of the greatest ways to meet women.

Of course I saw a guy do even better with a monkey on the back of his Harley

Excuse me, thought it was a book about culture differences. I already know how to talk to women and I don't need a dog.;)

No man is born knowing how to talk to women, it's learned. You can get
better at it with practice. If you aren't observant or if you are considered
gullible by your friends, then you should stick to locals. You have to read
body language and facial cues, especially when you are communicating
with a woman who doesn't have English as their first language.

Maxx married a GCG who almost immediately accused him of domestic violence.

That is nearly the worst case possibility of both not being able to read facial
cues and not picking a good girl.

Some women need time to get to know a man I think. It works both ways. Do women know how to talk to a Man? Some probably don't because they haven't much practice. Some may misread a man because of experiences with previous partners, stuff they read of the internet, psychology courses they might have taken, etc, etc...

I am not familiar with Elena's earlier books. I bought one of her later books when I started this search around 2016. Looking back it wasn't bad, a different title from the above book and one that has probably evolved over time. I was skeptical at first and yes I recall it was expensive but I didn't had much insight into the FSU at the time so I was willing to go with anything.

In the book I read apart from stuff about who you are and what you want, etc, well it goes into it in a a bit more depth than that of course, it also goes into how to present yourself. Now I know some guys turn up in the FSU as is and get with a good genuine girl and that's fine, but in the other hand most people want someone who comes across as desirable. So upping the game a bit there might not be the worst thing after all a lot of guys want a girl who is at least reasonably attractive so being seen in a good light in return in terms of appearance may reap dividends. If anything I didn't get it right enough fast enough even after reading her book, but I was probably starting at a fairly low base level as that area was pretty much all new to me.

Men are more simple than a game of tick tack toe. Women might take time to
trust a man, but men are simple creatures. If you want to learn something
read Elena's book written to women about how to succeed (it's in Russian) you
need to translate it, I did it, it's free. You can't be lazy (I know, that's not for you).

I read the English book for men. I read the guide here and the one at the other
forum (it's only free if you know the writer and his wife, which I do).
