A couple of years ago my friend Svetlana was coming to visit with me in Seattle. One of the few single RW that can get a visa to travel to the US. Prior to  her arrival I asked her what she would like to see in the way of sights. "I want to visit Space Needle, Farmer's Market, Mt. Rainier, aquarium, and I want to ride on the sheep."

I had to laugh. "The sheep? Kinky lady," I said.  "No, no no, Peevee! The sheep...you know... big boat!"  I then realized she  was referring to the Washington State ferry system ferryboat.

Aah, Geography, you poor, mistreated Muse ;D!

The Bosphorus is an isthmus, or strait, NOT a river:
The Bosphorus or Bosporus, also known as Istanbul Strait, (Turkish: Boğaziçi, İstanbul Boğazı or just Boğaz) (Greek: Βόσπορος) (English also: Bosphorus) is a strait that forms the boundary between the European part (Rumeli) of Turkey and its Asian part (Anadolu, Anatolia).

Byzantium, previously Constantinople, afterwards Istanbul, is in the small European part of Turkey.

AAhh!  I thought I was above my US school system.  They lied to me.  My college degree is worthless! I could distinguish a simple mass of land from a body of water.  My hiughschool diploma is going to the incinerator.

Seriously, I'm not to proud for correction.  I still wouldn't mind seeing Turkey for historical reasons.

Now back to making her laugh.  One thing she finds an endless source of humor, is my love of chocolate.  My eating habits are better now, but when we first becamse a couple, she would tell me not to eat too much of it.  Since the begining I've always brought a bags full of chocolates and other sweets.  This has been like that every trip.  Next trime, I'm bringing the 5 pound Hershey bar to see the look on their faces.  I've given her family som uch chocolate, they are probably going to start calling me Willy Wonka.

On other things that make them laugh.

Last summer, I explained to my Russian freinds (mostly girls) why I don't like monkeys. They were laughing hysterically, after I told them how monkeys like to throw their poopoo.  People are their favorite targets.  A relative in Panama has a little pet monkey, and he likes to do that.  As long as I give the Mona Tiki a mango, he'll leave me alone.
