After she gets her residency and greencard
« on: October 05, 2006, 02:47:59 PM »
Is she free to go back and forth from her native country?  A Slovakian lady (Guest worker) told me about a freind of hers that married an American, and she can't go back for 3 years.  I figured as long as she has her residency, and green card she's got just as much right to travel back and forth to her own country as I do.  I'm getting her a return ticket, so we can go back together and see her family.

My beloved went to Kiev Last Sunday night for her medical exam and then her interivew that week .  Hopefully it's all over.  I got an itinerary set up with a travel agent.  Hopefully by tommorrow morning, I get that long awaited message "I got it!".  Then I can pay for our tickets.  I just want this painful process of waiting to be over, and more than a bunch of nice e-mails and phone calls.

LS,

With a Green Card, she's eligible to work, and to re-enter the
USA without a visa (or advance parole), even if that GC is only
the 2-year conditional variety...

It's true that when she has her GC she can come and goes as needed. To carry this topic one step further, how easy or what steps need to be taken to have her married name affixed to her International passport? Last time we travelled outside, the ticket agents were confused with her married name on the tickets and her maiden name in passport? We had our marriage cert., but it still took 15 minutes for them to check it out.
