Mid-Atlantic Traffic Advisory
« on: September 25, 2006, 08:48:17 PM »
Our 17 y.o. daughter passed the road test today - another
RW on public thoroughfares. Beware the grey convertible
Tracker on Hway 74, and exercise extreme caution should you
encounter a drifting white Explorer - guided by a 5'4" lass
whose bum lies so low she needs a two-pillow cushion
just to glimpse over the wheel.

Forget Geico and Allstate - I'm calling Lloyd's of London!

Guess if we ever head South we'll be taking a WIDE detour around Charlotte!  ;D

Wonder if you'll ever be allowed to drive again Vaughn?

Gotta admit I'm nervous about it - I've been trying to
drive home the blind-spot check, the last moment glance
back before a turn. Anticipation. Somehow I think she considers driving a piece o' cake. God help us.

OMG~!  Since all RWs know that cars only have two speeds,,, "On and Off", your town will never be the same.

Congrats to the girls.

I can relate to this! Blind spot seems to be unheard of. My lady has been driving here for a few weeks (supervised of course) and she has supreme confidence for some reason despite being on the opposite side of the road and never having driven an automatic before.

The reality is that she sometimes drifts around the road like a twig in a brook and has reverted to the right hand side of the road once or twice in error  :o

Thankfully she is improving fast and when she acquires some more lane discipline (essential here with narrow roads) wraps her head around roundabouts and grasps a few more basics she will be fine.

Congrats to the OP's daughter!  ;D

Ah, this is one of those RW generalizations that aren't necessarily 100% true.

My wife has been a very careful and conscientious driver.  It has only been a recent development that she now drives at the prevailing speed of the traffic, and not at/just below the posted speed limit.

One change I have noticed recently -- As a beginning driver, she would get annoyed at me if I became impatient about another driver whom would be doing something stupid.  Her response to me would be something like, "maybe they are just learning, you need to be more patient..."

Last week, as she sat in the passenger seat, we saw a car quickly turn left and cut off the traffic that had the right-of-way, then slow to a near crawl.  Noting the white haired lady behind the wheel (and her white haired husband with the large wrap around sunglasses), she had a one word observation, "Grandma"...   ::)     ;D

My wife thinks the speed limit on interstate 95 is 95.
