Caviar Anyone ??
« on: October 09, 2006, 06:08:21 AM »
Seems a few of our members take more than a passing interest in the topic of caviar (reference the message from jb and others, here -- http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=2763.0

I ran across an interesting article in CNN/Fortune which describes the relatively new business of budget caviar production -- http://money.cnn.com/popups/2006/fsb/caviar/index.html?cnn=yes

The RWD Storefront offers plenty of caviar options ranging from very inexpensive red caviar (perhaps produced domestically?), to the stratospheric (priced) beluga, and other options in-between.

Enjoy those fish eggs!

Dan,

Reference the artical regarding Paddlefish caviar:

I became interested in Paddlefish back in the 70's when I spent a few weeks in Glendive, MT, supervising a seismic crew in the MonDak area of the Williston Basin, which is in the head waters of the Missouri river country.  It just so happened that the hotel bar in Glendive had a mount on the bar room wall of the, (at that time), world record Paddlefish.  Because I'm an avid fisherman, and the Paddlefish is such a strange looking creature I asked questions about it.  It was there that I learned the Paddlefish was a cousin to the sturgeon and produced a passable, Beluga-like, caviar.  A few months later I had the opportunity to actually taste some Paddlefish eggs and was very favorably impressed.

I would encourage anyone who fancies caviar to give this a try, it ain't bad stuff.
