My wife wasn't into eradicating old ghosts by replacing perfectly good furniture, cookware or towels.  I guess I was lucky.  We've had two new homes since being married.  Still working on getting the one we're in together, but it takes time and we plan on being here for a while.

I'm impressed! Now how about a shot of you and lady enjoying that pool?  ;)

Unlikely, can't you see it can barely accomodate the two lounge chairs and table ? It's really a large fish pond for small sharks, isn't it KenC ;)?

Sandro,
You making fun of my "spool"? (spa/pool) ;D  Yes it is a small pool, but the lots here in California are what they are and you do the best you can with what you get.  I think we maximized our usage very well, thank you.

Or "spam" (spa/wham) ? I did not notice the steps in the first photo, you must wear a crash helmet for your 2-stroke laps ;D.

Nice statue as pool-side decoration, though ;).

Yep, that will work. I hope you have some privacy at night?  ;D

In NJ the house is smaller but we did some work in the back a few years ago. Here is shot of one of my ladies just before her junior prom.

I don't worry about at night, but I had to let the back hedge grow to the top of the fence because some Ruskie had a different idea about what was acceptable sunbathing attire for the backyard! :o :o

Consider bamboo. No maintenance. Grows a foot a day, can go as high as 40 feet , nice and thick and a variety to choose from.
And I am proud,,and scared!! They grow up way to fast.

Viking,
nah, bamboo is too hard to control, the cape honeysuckle will do just fine and the humming birds they draw are cool too.

For now, She'd better settle for the furnishings I have now.  I don't expect her to tolerate my old starving artist habits for long.  She's seen photos of my place from every angle, and told me "your instruments can stay in your room".

I'll make a note about the roses on the bed.  I also want to have a nice chilled bottle of champagne.

She means all my guitars, basses, amps, mike stands, etc.  She's coming a one bedroom now, so they'll be in the living area for now.  I was teased that she's going to throw my things away.  I really hope they are kidding, because I can't take a time machine back to the 80's and early 90's to get replacements.  That's like my personal history.

Well I am sure she will let you keep them although she will only be interested in one instrument (or is it called an organ?)
Anyway best of luck   :D

When my wife came home (almost a year ago), I had the house prepared for the arrival.

1) - tossed out all those old phone bills, utility bills, and general garbage when I used to be a pack rat
2) - cleaned, cleaned and cleaned some more.  I live a clean living space, however, I took it to a whole new level.
3) - bought a new king size bed, with the best linen (600 thread count) I could find
4) - took the pooch (a hairy golden retriever) into the spa for a complete cleaning and trim
5) - bought 119 roses to be placed around the house
6) - decked out the bathroom and jacuzzi tub with the best towels and spa products I could find and placed red rose pedals around the tub and vanity
7) - She arrived on Dec 11th, so I bascially took the month off of work (I am self employed so not everyone can do this)

Thats about it, I am sure I am forgetting something, however, this was the bulk of the work.

 Calcowboy1,

Sounds like you put a lot of time and effort into it, i'm sure she appreciated it. You sound like a true romantic  :) How did she like the Roses everywhere? What was her reaction when she first arrived?

It won't hurt to have a bottle of champagne in the fridge.  My parents will be house sitting for me while I'm away.  Mom insists on doing an intensive cleaning of the place while I'm abroad.  So coming to a tidy home won't be an issue.

I actually told my employer I'm coming home from Ukraine a day later than is really scheduled.  While the Mrs and I are enjoying our morning in the USA, my employer will think we're still on the plane.  Our first day together will not be interupted, because somebody else at my work was being irresponsible.  Infact, my cel phone will be turned off just incase! ;D  We'll also do our first grocery shopping together.

Hi Jinxx,

I don't know if I am a true romantic, but we do like to do special things for each other.  We vowed to "never take each other for granted", and by Gawd we are still going strong.  We have a motto "Honeymoon back on!!!" that we live our life around.  As for the flowers, yeah she loved it.  She absolutely loves flowers, all flowers.  She finds fresh flowers more impressive than any piece of jewelrey.  Actually now that I think about it, since she arrived, I do not think we have spent a single day without flowers in the house.  We now grow Orchids inside the house which is quite amazing.

Her reaction was fantastic when she arrived.  Granted I had given her a tonne of photos of the house before so she knew the basic layout, however, watching her try and gather up 119 roses to carry around was quite funny.  She was very emotional when she arrived "home".

Cheers!!
Calcowboy

Lately I've had vivid dreams of walking into the living room, and seeing bare white walls and new furniture.  Soon the day will come when it's not a dream.

There is quite a list of things I want to get her to try.  #1, is to take her my favorite Korean restraunt.  First I'll get on the easy stuff like Beef Bul Go Ki, and Pa Jun (seafood pancake).  I also like the way they set the little plates out with the various Asian veggies.  For later, I'll order a couple Gim Bab to take home.  I want to see how she handle's it with my Wasabe paste.  We also made an agreement that she would be in charge of the kitchen, as far as what foods to bring in.  This will be welcome change, to a guy his has his kitchen stocked like an Asian guy.  Will she eat Ramen Noodles for breakfast?  We'll see.
