Just when you thought you've seen great rate plans from many wireless carriers, Sprint Nextel has released its "Employee Referral Price" calling plans to the general public until December 18, 2006. I just looked over these plans and found them to be exceptional values indeed.

For example, $30/month will get you 500 anytime minutes and unlimited night (9pm start [Now 7PM - ed]) and weekend minutes, along with unlimited picture and video mail and phone-based web browsing, IM and email usage (1xRTT or EV-DO speeds, based on the handset). Basically, 500 unlimited anytime minutes with unlimited roaming minutes, unlimited data,photo, and in-network mobile-to-mobile, AOL/Yahoo messaging.  $30/month with 2 yr contract and no activation fee.  Good discounts on telephones, too.  One will be under the tree this Christmas for my wife.

I just took advantage of a similar offer from T-Mobile, added a phone to the existing service and got a new Motorola Razr V3 w/camera for $30.00.  I did upgrade to 750 minutes with free weekend and nights, but the overall extra cost was only a few dollars with the 2 yr contract.  I'm always gonna have cell phones in my life from now on so I'd have signed a 10 yr deal for some savings.

WRT modern cell phones and 1988 computers, I'd say this RAZR V3 has more computing power than my 1st IBM 80-86, or what I call the 1st real computer I bought, a 80-386/ 16 mhz with a 10 meg hard drive and 4 megs of RAM. 

Man~! At the time I thought it will never get any better than this...
