Shortest trip ever?
« on: December 06, 2006, 11:50:52 PM »
I'm about to fly out and spend 1.5 days in the FSU with a girl this weekend.  I have a pretty tight schedule so its all i had time for, and actually I don't think it takes more time than that to know if you want to pursue something down the road.

Anybody from the states ever do a trip that short?  Shorter?

And I'm coming from the West Coast so its actually going to be much longer getting there and back than time on the ground.

I think my TR will be about 2 paragraphs  :P  Just kidding...

I hope to get everything you guys that get out of a 2 week trip in from 1pm saturday till 6pm sunday.

Would you consider an overnight layover a short trip?  The last few times going to Odessa, I always had to stay overnight in Vienna, Austria. I got a hotel by Der Prater (A beautiful amusement park), and had fun.  It was like taking a side vacation.

Actually, I have you beat--by half a day :-)

I took the JFK Delta flight in to Kiev one day last August and returned the next day on the very same jet, with my girl on my arm.

That afternoon, we caught a movie, did some shopping, and got to bed early.

I guess I was on the ground about 25 hours :-)

The flight attendents had become very friendly with me on the way over, and were amazed when I got back on thier plane to return home with them  ;D    "Business, you said?"   "Yeah, right!"   ;D

Good luck, DKMM.

Actually, you are correct.  You will be able to learn on this short trip if you have chemistry with this girl and if you want to see her again later.

I guess your trip is the ultimate WOVO trip!   ;D  LOL

You got me beat on that one! My shortest stay was about three days. Talk about a hectic week...I spent a week in Ukraine, part of it with a girl I was seeing. I flew home on a Monday, worked Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, caught the non-stop Thursday night to Frankfurt and arrived in Kharkov Friday afternoon. Took her to a big concert she desperately wanted to go to Saturday night, then left Sunday night late, arriving home Monday afternoon.

Yes, I agree. You can have a pretty good idea if you want to continue getting to know someone after a day and a half.

Greetings from Estonia,  I'll post the trip events in a TR soon (i'm still waiting for her to arrive by train), but I have to say that it seemed to take a lot longer to get here than i remember last time i went this far.  next time I will try to make it last at least 3 days.   :P

BTW this is a very easy to get to place for a quick weekend if you have a girl who can train out from moscow or st. pete like I'm doing.  It seemed kind of crazy at first but now i feel like there is plenty of time to visit her...

The only problem is that they will need a visa.

Mir,

A visa for Estonia?  I don't think I need a visa for Latvia... Is it different?  I would have though Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia would all have similar Visa requirements..

Hmmm... better talk to my agent again.

Kuna

I was referring to Russian nationals.
If you want to meet a Russian girl in Estonia or any other Baltic state(they are all in EU now) they will need a visa.
The only place around Western Russia they can go visa free is Turkey(visa granted on border) and other FSU countries (Ukraine,Belarus and Moldova)

AAhhhhhh... OK thanks Mir, I was a little confused.

I didn't think I needed a visa for Latvia but now I understand.

Cheers,

Kuna
