I am thinking of traveling to Simferopol over the holidays to visit this girl that I have been corresponding with.  I greatly appreciate any information on:
1) contact info on individuals that have apartments for rent,
2) contact info of reliable interpreters, and
3) any agencies that operate in Simferopol or Sevastopol.

Thanks in advance,
Max.   :)

Hi Max

I don't know about Simferopol but I am sure Scott can guide you.

I have stayed in Sevastopol and it is a very nice and clean city due to it recent past when it was restricted to Navy personal. The seafront is very nice for romantic meetings with good restaurants etc.
You can go to Balaklava easily and drive around Crimea.
I arranged my apartment and transport through Chris Campling a Brit who now lives there

I don't know anything about interpreters and agencies but I am sure he can guide you with that.
Have a nice time.

Hi Max,
I can probably help you with whatever you need in Simferopol.  Give me the details of when you're going and what you need either here or in a PM.
The only agency that I've had any experience with here is the Athena Agency.  I don't know if anyone on this board has any experience with them, but all my experiences and those who I know who have worked with them have been very good.  They used to have an office just down the street from us, but I just checked out their website again and now they are calling themselves 3G's Introductions and they only list a Sevastopol address.  I connected through their old website at www.athenaagency.com.  You can check them out if you want.

Thank you both for the info.

What is the distance between Simferopol & Sevastopol?  If I land at Simferopol airport at around 11pm, is it doable to drive to Sevastopol at that time of the night?  Do you happen to know, how much about would it cost?

Thanks!

Max

The drive time from Simferopol airport to Sevastopol is 1 and half to 2 hours. You can pre-arrange with Chris. He has(well he did have last year) a very reliable driver who will be waiting for you at the airport. I am not sure what the charge is now as petrol prices have gone up,it could be $50 to $80 (if you book apartment with him he will discount it). Chris's GF Natasha used to act as guide/interpretor though I did not use her services since the girl with me spoke perfect English. The driver can take you on a tour around Crimea including must see places like the caves of Chatyr Dag, Balaklava, Bakhchisarai, Masandra, Yalta etc. and he will not rip you off.
Here is a photo with the most famous landmark of Crimea in the background. It is a nice Italian restaurant now (though obviously a bit pricey)

Max,
That might be a little late to be setting off for Sevastopol.  I think your best bet is to overnight in Simferopol and get a fresh start in the morning.  Besides, you'll get to see a little more of the scenery that way, though there isn't a whole lot between the two cities.  I can't vouch for Chris as I have never met him, but it sounds like Mir was happy with his services.  I can give you a few other options if necessary.  You still haven't said when you plan to come.  Availability of some apartments, guides, etc. will be different over the holidays.

Last time I was in Sevastopol stirlitz hooked me up with a room which was small but newly remodeled for 10.00 a night. Of course this was like two years ago in the spring time. But this time of the year you should be able to get a good deal.

The place to locate renters is by the bus station I believe, but it is best to have something lined up before you get there.
On my arrival in Simmeropol, it was late at night too and we had trouble finding any vacancies at hotels, except for the most pricey.
